Most important things first: -water from the shower came out brown for a while but eventually became clear enough to use -outlets are unsafe -old tv, no hdmi plugs I stayed at this place friday may 13th to sunday may 15th, 2016. If you're under 21 and looking for a cheap place close to boardwalk, this is the go to. But, do not expect anything great at all. The doors to the front desk do not close all the way. There is a $50 per person deposit if you are under 21, which is CASH ONLY. They don't tell you that anywhere.

When I got to my room, I was disappointed. I stayed in an end room on the 2nd floor, not facing the beach. You could however see the beach from the balcony, but only barely. The room itself was clean, but very outdated and crowded. It had an old CRT TV, which was resting on a large wooden hutch that took up half the room. If they would upgrade the tv, they wouldn't need the hutch! There was a serious lack of outlets for your phone/laptop. There were only 3 in the room. One was taken up by the tv and cable box. The other had a mini fridge and a microwave plugged in. The last outlet had a lamp plugged in and let me tell you, this outlet was not safe. Not only was the plastic cover broken, but things did not stay plugged into the outlet! Very very unsafe. The beds aren't uncomfortable but not exactly luxury, that's for sure. The sliding glass door to the balcony was not clean at all. I would not recommend bringing small children here as they may hurt themselves on the wall between the inside and outside of the glass door, because it is very jagged.

The door to the room did not close tightly. The breeze coming from underneath the door was absolutely unacceptable. The view from the balcony was obstructed by 2 telephone poles with transformers and wires mounted to them. The sign from the mini golf course across the street is unbearably bright. I honestly don't know how that was approved because it is ungodly bright. Distracting almost.

The motel has a pool but seeing how everything in the room was, I wasn't about to test out the pool. I went to use the shower and I'm glad I turned it on before I got in because the water came out brown. Gross, very gross. Same with faucet. It did however clear up eventually after I let it run for a while. The bathroom was actually somewhat clean. More clean than I was expecting. No shampoo or conditioner included. The towels are not soft at all, almost like a cheap dollar store "sandpaper" towel. The light switch cover in the bathroom was old and had rusted screws. A new one cost $2, it is really that hard to replace?

All in all, I don't recommend this place if you can afford something else. Like I said, if you're under 21, this is a cheap place with a good location. Above 21, don't stay here. Stay next door at the Starlux, much better...

Well it's been 4 months since booking a room & having to cancel a week later due to a family emergency. I waited this long to see if the motel was going to make things right and they have not, so here goes! In May of 2024, I booked a room for the middle of August. A week later we found out that our nephew that would be coming with us had to have surgery that week, so I called to cancel. I hadn't received a confirmation and no deposit had been charged to my account yet. They said, no problem, they would cancel reservation. 2 weeks after this, nearly $500.00 was deducted from my account by Newport! I called back to inquire why and the reservations manager, I think his name was Don, said whomever I spoke to previously (it was him) didn't cancel the reservation but he would take care of it and the money would be returned. It was returned after 2 days, so problem solved. NOT! In July, the same amount was deducted again! I called & the same man very rudely told me they didn't give refunds. He said it was posted on their website. I asked him where it was posted (because I didn't see it & I've never heard of such a thing when canceling 2 months in advance) He couldn't tell me where to find it but said he would email me their policy. (I still have not received it.) I asked to speak to management & he said the only people higher ranked than him were the owner's and they wouldn't speak to me and he was the one to make decisions about refunds. I told him I was going to put on a dispute with my bank and he said, good luck with that & hung up! I contacted the Chamber of Commerce. They said they have never known any hotels in Wildwood to not give refunds for a cancelation 2 months in advance & gave me the numbers of the BBB & The Cape May Consumer Affairs. They've been trying to help but the Newport sometimes doesn't respond to them or if they do, they lie & say the refund has been issued. ( It has not) They are still trying to contact them to no avail. We've been coming to Wildwood for 50 years & have stayed at the Newport many times, however, after this debacle and the way they have treated a returning customer, NEVER again! I guess all I can say is, I hope Don or the owner's enjoyed spending my money since I'm sure the room I had originally booked was booked to someone else so it was payed for twice! BEWARE of their unethical practices before booking...

We rented the 5th fl suite for a family of four back in 2016 and had a great experience, ocean view and friendly staff. We decided to go back for the 4th of July wknd in 2018 however this visit was Very DISAPPOINTING on so many levels! First, we requested to stay in the same room on the 5th fl as last time and although it was agreed upon, once we arrived they informed us that it was under reconstruction for the past two wks bc the last guests destroyed it. NO ONE bothered to call us and inform us they were going to relocate to the 2ND FL which had NO OCEAN VIEW! We should've been giving an option 2wks prior on whether we wanted to stay, reschedule or cancel with full refund! After I got over it we then had some problems with the toilet not flushing well within the very first use of it. We spoke to the receptionist on our way out to the beach and it was fixed upon our return. We then find that the ICE MACHINE WAS NOT WORKING! The second day we experienced some problems with the microwave but this time I had to call and leave a msg since the office was already closed. No one returned my call nor was it fixed!ANOTHER INCONVENIENCE! The manager for our 2016 visit was definitely better than the 2018 manager! The worst experience was when we found out our 11yr old son had left his phone in the room once we were already home. Every time I called them I had to leave a voicemail until I finally got through and after reporting and describing his phone the lady said they DID find it however I need to speak to ANA MARIA/Manager in order to go through the proper steps to get it back. Every time I called she was never there and after over a week I finally spoke to her and she had the audacity to tell me she had no Recollection of having that conversation with any of her staff and doesn't know anything about a lost phone while being rude and unprofessional!! I guess after a certain amount of time that passes they can keep what ever was put into their so called "Lost & Found box! At the end of the day we never got our phone back and we will NEVER STAY AT NEWPORT MOTEL AGAIN! WE CAN NOT BE...

The only thing that makes this place good is the location. We haven’t stayed in Wildwood for over 18 years but we came back for our anniversary since this is where we got engaged. Let me just say that most of these hotels are very old and were there when I was a child and they say that they renovate but really most are just putting surfacy stuff on. The nightly rates in season are really getting ridiculous for the accommodations. This place from the time you step in has a musty smell and mold is evident. The refrigerator was rusted and needs a good cleaning. The sheets and towels were stained but thank goodness my wife brought our own knowing that we would encounter this. The balconies are in desperate need of repair. After seeing places on the news that collapsed I did not want to go out on them since you could see areas of concrete that were repaired but are they really or again does it just show the appearance that they were. They aren’t even painted to match. There are cracks in the concrete right in the middle of most of the ones that I could see above me. Now the doors. Both the front door and the sliding door to the balcony have these makeshift security locks that are hard to fasten because the doors are old. You have to jiggle them to get the pin in. See photos attached. Also, the shower head had cracks in it so water would spray everywhere from the ceiling to the wall to the sink by the toilet. The faucets were leaking constantly even when you turned them off hard. Many rooms around us were filled the two nights we stayed there and the place reeked with the smell of weed. Many of those people did not appear to have medical conditions that warranted them to be “needing” it. In the end, great location but would steer clear of coming back. What a waste of my hard earned money!

The actual hotel was very old fashioned for better words. The rooms are deceivingly small going off the pictures on the site. Way smaller. If they upgraded their interiors and kept it a little nicer and more modern, it would be great. The time we had was incredible. The view was really cool from the balcony but as far as the hotel goes, Nothing special at all. Never got fresh towels. I had to ask every single day. They weren’t changing anything due to the pandemic which I understand but some new towels would’ve been great. I WILL say the location is great. Kohr bro’s ice cream on the corner. Right next door is Newport Cafe which has probably the freshest bagels I’ve had in a while. Excellent excellent breakfast and fresh every day. The Wildwood sign right in front. Bikes, boards and ocean right there is the only reason I’ve given this a 3.

This is the worst place I’ve ever seen. I’ve driven across the country as a truck driver and stated some pretty bad places this takes the cake I seen a cockroach crawling when I was walking into check in after that point I knew it was game over !!!!! The services is horrible would not offer a refund or even call to talk about the issues. The door wouldn’t even close the hotel room so if that doesn’t tell you something, I’m unsure what would there is food underneath the bed The AC barely worked. You cannot book a room or get in touch with anybody. Also the front desk lady at night make yourself at home and sleeps in the lobby. Barefoot make it make sense. The place needs to get shut down and hopefully will immediately
