El Viejo Sosa — Restaurant in Montevideo

Very nice and cozy restaurant, very good and friendly staff. I went there twice, at midday and in the evening. At midday it was packed inside so I had to sit outside, but the environment was enjoyable anyway. Not very accessible inside, but the setting and decoration are good. Dishes arrive quite fast, fish dish could have been better, but the pasta was really good. Dessert: excellent! I take away one star because of the fish and accessibility issues, but highly recommended.

Update: visited it this midday, sat outside because the plastic covers all around make it very comfortable and the sun they let in makes it warmer. Lovely salmon with vegetables and a nice lemonade to go with it. It is not cheap, but the price is according to the area it is in, the quality of the food and the nice environment. Service is...

Buena experiencia!, comenzamos mi pareja y yo compartiendo una molleja en su plancha bien crocante por fuera y tierna por dentro, seguimos con un sabroso (no muy tierno pero en lo normal) asado, eso sí abundante (dos tiras de 30 cms de 1cm de grosor y grasa justa) a punto; al que acompañamos con una porción de verduras grilladas. Por otra parte, salmón a la plancha con salsa de camarones y papas rusticas al plomo. Regamos con mineral 2x 1/2 litro y un refresco de litro. Puntos buenos: 1- llegamos tarde y sin reserva y conseguimos en menos de 5 minutos mesa, la atanción fue buena para un lugar lleno. Los platos se sirvieron a tiempo junto con las bebidas. 2: Ambas elecciones fueron de buenas a generosas en sus cantidades sin ser groseras. El pan (que es opcional) es casero, con ligero sabor a ajo, sabroso aunque con mucha "miga" para mi gusto. No pedimos postre, no nos daba el espacio!, dejamos postre y cafe para otro lugar luego de una buena caminata digestiva!. Punto 3: Precio acorde, nos pareció justo. Gastamos servicio incluido (10%) un poco más de 60 USD. Puntos no tan buenos (porque el Diablo esta en los detalles dicen): 1- Limitada carta de bebidas al menos en lo que toca con alcohol, me apetecía una cerveza negra y no tenían de ninguna marca ni tipo. El refresco pedimos un light para achicar el tema del azúcar y nos trajeron uno común (igual lo tomamos oh sí!). 2- Bastante ruidoso, música de fondo a volumen medio que no sería un problema si no se sumara, mucha gente tratando de entenderse, niños (que son niños y actúan como tales) y algunos ruidos fuertes a caídas del nivel superior (es una casa de techos altos donde aprovechan el espacio armando dos niveles con escaleras y pisos de madera) generan un estado opuesto al confort por algunos momentos. 3- Las verduras grilladas… no sé ustedes, pero yo entiendo por verduras que son al horno o plancha, o parrilla y lo que me sirvieron no era eso, eran verduras son soja al wok, o algo similar pero a distancia de algo grillado seguro. Rico, sí, pero no lo que pedí, también y por eso la calificación no es mejor.

En lo personal, me gusto, y recomiendo. Mas para otra oportunidad seremos más exigentes con lo que nos traen y elegiremos o esperaremos por mesa fuera en la terraza, o sobre las ventanas, que son más tranquilas y disfrutables en días soleados como el de...

Ich war dort zum Mittagessen, habe aber von der Karte bestellt. Parkplätze vor Ort sind kein Problem gewesen. Gegenüber ist direkt ein Parkhaus oder halt auf der Straße. Der Empfang war sehr freundlich und das Restaurant sieht sehr gut aus. Man kann bei der Bar auch das offene Feuer sehen, wo gegrillt wird. Vorspeise und Hauptgericht sind von der Zeit sehr gut abgestimmt. Man kann ohne hektik essen. Vorab kann man Brot mit 2 verschiedenen Dips essen. Als Vorspeise die Mozarella Sticks sind sehr lecker und der Dip dazu auch. Als Hauptgericht hatte ich ein Steak mit Grillgemüse. Das essen ist einfach super lecker dort und das Steak war auf den Punkt exakt gegrillt. Das Fleisch war auch sehr zart. Ich kann das Restaurant wirklich nur Empfehlen, denn die Bediehnung war super freundlich und das essen ist wirklich super. Ich werde auch jedenfall wieder kommen, wenn ich in Montevideo arbeite.

I went there for lunch but ordered from the menu. On-site parking was not a problem. There is a multi-storey car park directly opposite or just on the street. The reception was very friendly and the restaurant looks very good. You can also see the open fire at the bar, where the barbeque is taking place. Appetizer and main course are very well coordinated by the time. You can eat without hassle. You can eat bread with 2 different dips before. As a starter, the mozzarella sticks are very tasty and so is the dip. For my main course I had a steak with grilled vegetables. The food is simply delicious there and the steak was grilled to the point. The meat was realy soft. I can really only recommend the restaurant, because the service was super friendly and the food is really great. I will definitely come back when I work...
