Dakota — Restaurant in Montevideo

I really hate doing this, but I have quite a sour taste in my mouth (pun intended)!

Service: We were reluctantly given a seat and then ignored for an hour or so. After all waitering staff ignored of attempts at getting service, we grabbed our own menus. Taking our order required intercepting a waiter, who said he would get to us when he was ready. Asking for the bill required us calling over another (uninterested) waiter after a prolonged period of staring at our disappointing food. This was followed by, what I can only say was, rude body language after we refuse to pay a tip for the service that we were not giving. Once we walked out of the restaurant, we saw our initial uninterested waiter smoking a cigarette on the street.

Food: For a steakhouse, our steak was a bit of a disappointment. If you like you're meat medium-rare, I would recommend ordering it uncooked. We ordered a medium-rare steak, and got something that would put cardboard to shame. The burger bun was dry, but the patty was alright.

All in all... I probably wouldn't recommend this if you are seeking a memorable meal. The service was nonexistent and the food was average.

I'm really sorry to do that, as we were so stoked to go here. We payed a lot of money and walked out...

They changed their closing hours without notice so when we arrived they were about to close in an hour.

We went to celebrate my wife’s birthday. While I was giving her the gift, the waiter was asking us to make space for the drinks, destroying that special moment. I had to ask him to leave the drinks in the table and leave.

When we were starting to eat they were on a rush to close asking us if they could bring the desserts. Three times, different people, asked if they could remove the dish (but we where still eating and the plates still had food).

They brought the dessert and the ice cream started to melt.

We paid and decided not to go again, at least not on a special day.

I think they have a lot to learn about how to treat...

Soy una persona a la cual no le molesta pagar algún peso mas cuando la calidad de la comida y del servicio lo ameritan, y en el Dakota claramente lo ameritó.

Para empezar el restaurant esta ubicado en una excelente locación, en Punta Carretas.

Cuenta con estacionamiento propio en el cual los clientes del restaurant pueden quedarse gratis por una hora (pasada la primera hora el costo son solo 60 pesos por hora)... Tal vez una sugerencia podría ser extender una hora mas el tiempo de estacionamiento gratis pero sería simplemente un plus.

La ambientación del lugar es muy linda, con iluminación tenue.

De la carta probamos como entrada los Nachos mexicanos, que si bien estaban ricos no nos parecieron nada especial.

Y pronto llego lo que fuimos a probar, las Baby Back Ribs, porciones muy generosas de un costillar de cerdo con salsa barbacoa deliciosamente preparado. La salsa muy sabrosa y la carne que se despegaba sola del hueso. Todo acompañado por unas papas fritas naturales (no las congeladas que usan en todos lados) que estaban buenísimas y un Cole Slaw (ensalada de repollo y zanahoria) que si bien no estaba mal no destacaba en el plato.

El servicio de refill de bebidas cola es para mi un gran plus ya que detesto las clásicas botellitas de 285ml que no alcanzan ni para esperar la entrada.

Otro gran plus para mi gusto fue el detalle de no cobrar cubiertos que es un agregado que nunca entenderé de otros lugares.

El postre fue otra cosa muy disfrutable, pedimos el Key Lime Pie (tipo Lemon Pie) que estaba delicioso, y que se sentía realmente fresco como recién hecho. Acompañado de una crema de Bailey's.

Por último llego el momento de abonar, el total fue de 1800 pesos mas la propina, por Entrada, 2 platos principales de los más caros del menú, postre y 2 bebidas con Refill que los mozos rellenaron como 4 veces.

Me parece una muy buena relación costo / beneficio que contó con una muy buena atención del personal.

A su vez gracias a mi tarjeta de crédito recibimos un 25% de descuento lo que lo hizo realmente conveniente.

Sin duda una experiencia...
