So I booked into the Bodega Hotel for 6 nights. They were courteous and friendly on arrival although they tried to tell me that my booking didn't exist and continued to do so until I presented the receipt issued by hotels dot com. Even after doing so, they tried to charge me more. The room was large and clean but that was all the good points. The large CRT style television in the room had no power socket to plug it into. The locked balcony door looked out to a balcony with a dead rat and a broken dining chair and an accumulation of dirt and trash on it. The bathroom was little more than a shoebox, it's ceiling was covered with mould and the only way to have a shower was to hold a slightly too short hand held device over yourself. Sitting on the toilet meant sitting sideways to avoid getting cut by the broken toilet roll holder.||||The staff were always friendly and ready to help with directions to stores and attractions and the front desk was manned 24/7 even if it was a man sleeping on a camp stretcher bed in the foyer after midnight. ||||Breakfast was a very simple buffet: Eggy bread that you could toast yourself, Jam, Butter, Tea & Coffee, Sliced Tomato, Sliced Ham, Sliced Cucumber, an Eggy Fried Rice dish, an Eggy Noodle Dish and Scrambled Eggs with Steamed Asian Greens. It was the same every day and never changes. Unfortunately, the 8 a.m. dining room opening hours did not necessarily mean that breakfast would be ready on time or hot for that matter.||||Sometime on the last night, over 2 Million Dong worth of souvenirs and 1.5 Million Dong in cash went missing from my room. At all times my room was kept locked when I left the hotel. I have my suspicions as to who took them but when that person is the one checking the security footage on behalf of the hotel owner... well long story short, on the last day the hotel manager agreed to pay me half back in cash and took me to the local police station to make a report for the rest for insurance purposes. That is one experience you don't want in Vietnam thats for sure as the police aren't exactly friendly towards foreigners. In the end I was three hours late for my flight so was charged 1.25 Million more Dong to...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay at the hotel as the staff were very friendly and helpful, sadly the rooms in the pictures posted i feel are from a long time ago as they were very dated and in need of a good make over regarding paintwork and general maintenance, not every day were new shampoos put in the bathroom and twice i had to ask so we bought our own from across the street.I have to say the breakfast was a let down as most mornings the food that was prepared was almost cold and no milk for the coffee or tea,in the two weeks we were there a choice of only 4 dishes were offered(scrambled eggs, noodles with sausage slices, sticky rice and some othe type of pasta)fresh orange had to be asked for but not always given as they did not have any, twice bananas were on display and on the odd occasion tomatoes or cucumber. The doors to the balcony in our room were not lockable thus not safe,we had to ask for a hairdryer which should be in all rooms as standard and no tea or coffee making facilities,no safe in the room which i have always had in hotel rooms. The bed sheets had holes in them and some of the towels were threadbare and needed replacing for new.As for the hotel position that was ideal for all local shops and the centre a 10 to 15 minute easy walk. Overall a nice holiday but let down i feel by the general condition and amenities at the hotel. I was told they were busy with improvements but it has been a very long time since the last maintenance overhaul.Lets hope they make the necessary changes soon as it can only damage there reputation if left this way...
Read moreWe had booked the double deluxe room which looked pretty good according to the pictures and facilities on Hotels.com. Unfortunately, we were gravely disappointed as the room we were given was nothing like advertised and both looked and smelled old and unclean. I appreciate that there will always be slight differences between what is advertised and what you actually get but this hotel took the biscuit for poetic license. The major discrepancy was that there was no balcony to enjoy the city views (something which is advertised on all kinds of rooms) - our room did not even have a window!! ||When we complained to the front desk that the room we had been given was not what we had booked, we were told that it was the last room available so our only option was to cancel the booking via Hotels.com (which was not an option according to the website's cancellation policy's deadlines).||As it was late, we reluctantly opted to stay the first night and lose out on the remaining nights which we had prepaid for and find somewhere else..||The mattresses were uncomfortable and during the night, there were several strange gurgling noises coming from the dated bathroom (which by the way still had the previous guests' waste in the bins when we arrived).||The WiFi signal in our room was non-existent.||When leaving the next morning we saw several cockroaches on the landing outside our room.||This hotel, and its advertising policies, could do with a...
