Everything but amazing. I don't know where to start. Well first of: I stayed in a dorm room, first night in 502, the highest floor, later in 202, the floor above the lounge area. 502 is basically a machine room. The lift machine is like next to this room and there's also the big ventilator for the bathrooms located just a few meter away. So you hear constantly noise. Also the rooms are divided into 2 beds in the connecting room, where I slept first, and one room with 6 beds, that's very narrow and small. The connecting room has 4 doors, 2 for bathrooms, one main entry and one to the next room. Therefore you'll have people walking in and out all the time, even at night. The bathrooms are filthy, windows don't close properly. After bringing up my concerns I got a room change. 202 was far better, but now I heard the bar till late in the night and other people chatting, because the walls are rather thin. Having wet clothes or a towel inside the room resulted in very bad air and the things didn't dry. The breakfast was alright, can't argue with that and the price is also low. The beds are quite soft for Vietnamese standards. Nethertheless I did sleep here for 2 night but only for 8 hours in total because of the noise. Totally don't...
Read moreThis hostel is located on a quiet street between the railway station and the old quarter, perfect for me. Facilities are very good. Breakfasts are good, with a selection of western and Vietnamese choices, fruit and self-serve tea and coffee. There really is free beer (not the greatest brew) at happy hour.|The staff speak good English and are very helpful. I and others who had checked out were able to use the hostel facilities at no charge while waiting for our late bus/train, even to take a shower.|But the best thing is that on three mornings a week a receptionist from one of the sister hostels will take guests on a free walking tour of Hanoi. This takes you to places you would be unlikely to find on your own. Highly recommended.|Before booking any tour or transport through the hostel check prices at other travel agencies. Amazing are expensive. They asked 50% more than I paid with another agency for an equivalent cruise on Halong Bay.|One gripe about the hostel itself. The dorms have an ante room to the main dorm, containing two single bunks. The ante rooms have four doors (two to the bathrooms) so the occupants get disturbed by doors opening and closing, and lights...
Read moreI came here after Ha Giang. I was sick, had an upper respiratory infection and didn’t feel like doing anything other than resting. I booked for 1 night in Hostelworld and ended up staying 4 nights. I was in the female dorm, the bed was large, comfortable, and even had some toe of foam that would contour to your body. Pillows were comfy too.
I loved that each bunk had a fan, it really helps me to have some white noise when trying to go to sleep. Also I loved that the staff had a sign posted asking that the A/C stay set at a certain temperature. Being in dorms in SE Asia, there’s always a battle over the AC temp. This way it was never too cold and people who wanted a bit more could just turn on their fan.
The owner and staff were very friendly, every day asking how I was feeling and offering to do anything they could. Also breakfast was included and you have several choices. I got the eggs and toast with fruit. They even gave me some extra fruit to help my immune system. I had to leave for Thailand or I would have stayed longer. I wish I could’ve been more social while I was there as they have a nice area next to the lobby to drink and...
