Note: you will pay foreigners price. We saw a local toss 50,000 VND for his meal. Whereas the two of us were charged 170,000 for our two bun cha, rolls, and a tea… which doesn’t really add up. So do keep that in mind. Still, I’d come back and pay the foreigners price. You’d pay much more in a tourist spot 🤷🏻♀️
Review: We had bun cha four times during our stay in Hanoi and this place redeemed the dish for us. Our first three times weren’t great, to the point where we were turned off. Was hungry on our last day and happened to pass by this place and decided to give it one last shot. We were shocked at how much better this one was: patties were nicely charred and succulent - not like the dry pucks we had at other places; the pork strips were like tasty bacon, not gristle; and the portion sizes were great. Also saw plenty of young and old locals, which means it’s still got some good quality.
Only thing other than the price discrimination is that I saw them just recycling the baskets of other customers uneaten greens. Kinda gross. Would I come back? Honestly yea, it’s just that much better than the other...
Read moreThere’s no menu but the price for bun cha right now is 60K. I read that locals might pay 50K and tourist pay 60K according to google but I’m not sure because I paid 60K. They will ask you if you want egg rolls and you can say yes or no when they show them to you. I think the egg rolls should be 10K only but when I went up to pay 70K total she took out her phone and did 60+20. I pointed at the egg rolls and said no way that’s 20K. She ended up taking my 70K. There was this tourist white couple that only ordered 1 bun cha and 2 egg rolls ended up paying 100K. The meatballs was good but the pork was tough. They do give a lot of meat and noodles though. They do reuse there veggies. I saw them toss the veggies back into the huge container. Not sure if all places do...
Read moreThis place has now become our favourite Bun Cha in Hanoi. On our way to get some Pho and couldn’t pass this place up as it was packed with locals indicating it must be good.
Sure there were no prices, and the staff frantically rushing around and far from friendly but let’s face it we went here for a good feed not the conversation. We were charged 60k for each serve of Bun Cha.
And then the taste….the meat in each bowl was endless! All of the meat being cooked right before your eyes as you walk into the restaurant. The broth was a perfect blend of sweet and sour, and I liked that the bowl of salad was mostly normal types of lettuce leaves.
So glad we stopped in here, not sure they need more business but this place deserves the accolades for their great...
