The staff were a bit clueless. The WiFi didn't work, the rooms are too small for the beds, there is hardly any room to move around inside. The bathroom has a frosted door on which means it's quite see through which is a little off putting. We also asked if we could get a packed breakfast in the morning as we were leaving 30 mins before breakfast was served. The receptionist said that was fine but then the in the morning when we went down there was a different receptionist who had no idea and said we should go up to the fifth floor to check with the kitchen. She also had no idea so we didn't get breakfast as we had to leave.
We also arrived a little early for check in but they made us wait till dead on 2pm before we could go up, even though the bed was ready. We get that there is a specific check in time but if we're a bit early and the bed is ready....
They let us leave our bags there for two nights while we went to ha long bay (we then stayed another night). The second time we stayed it was on the forth floor and the internet worked but the bed was SO hot!
The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot and it's cheap. You get what...
Read moreThe dorm was cozy in the sense that I had barely space to pack my backpack and share the bed with a weird bug that seems to suck blood. But pretty much upsetting was the attitude of the inpatient, apparently super bored and totally pragmatic receptionist. First he could not find my Agoda booking claiming that they don't work with Agoda anymore and could not change my 100k bill for the 80k room fee and kept my passport instead until I would have exactly 80k. I informed him, that in all floors' showers the soap is out so that he or someone could refil and when I came back at the end of the day ..this was still the case. He was outspoken upset about me pointing this out..and showed me than that the top floor shower still had some soap. Don't expect much knowledge and service from him, especially when you seek some help getting an early bus to the airport and a breakfast package or earlier breakfast. So overall a not so cozy experience and totally unexplainable high rating on Agoda/booking.com, because I stayed at significantly better hostels for this price in many places in Vietnam, even with...
Read moreStaying one or two nights in Hanoi? Are you on a very low budget? This might suit you, otherwise for 1 or 2USD more you can get a much better place in the old quarter. Good points... The girl in the reception was friendly and helpful - thank you. Location is nice, it might look as if you are far from the attractions but it is not true and you are just 5 min walk from the big market. The place is clean and the beds have curtains that give some privacy. There are big lockers underneath the beds where even big backpacks can fit. Bring your own padlock. They have FREE water refills, which is not common in Vietnam and made us very happy (same as if we had to pay for it) for ecological reasons. Downsides... The space between the beds in dorms is good for one thin person! Two people have to manage their way, can’t pass each other. Breakfast is basic which is ok, but please just ask the customer if one wants the eggs fried, scrambled or omelette...
