This hotel was really lovely. We stayed in a few hotels in Hanoi but this one was by far the best. The room was great. Decor made the room even more pleasant and pretty. We didn’t have a view of the city as it was really just walls can be seen from the window and we had a little back door which was where the ac unit hummed its life away from. So you couldn’t do anything much there and to see out you had to view through a lot of bars, which means you saw nothing.
The breakfast was great. I liked the fact it was a la carte. I mainly stuck to crepe and omelette, it was delicious. Kudos to the kitchen staff, they did a marvelous job.
A few of the staff were really helpful. Can’t fault them there. There were two occasions where they turned off the electricity in our room. I thought it was the entire hotel that the electricity was gone from. A staff member told me that it was only our room. Not sure why that was the case, as it was no fun waking up at 4am sweating buckets from no ac. Earlier in that day the guy at reception kept asking the other Male staff what was our room number (being the receptionist you would think he would already know that), I did find that pretty odd but we told him anyways. And that same night our electricity was turned off. It was one day before check out and it happened also on the day of check out.
I also did not appreciate when one of the female hotel staff tried to accuse us of keeping a hand towel. Like why in the world would I want a hand towel used by many before me. When we used the hand towel for starters, the housekeeper seldom replaced them. She barely replaced any linen for that matter. I found that quite offensive and even stated to her what need do I have for such?
Overall, the location is great. You can wake to everything in old quarter. What you can’t or don’t want to walk too the staff will happily call a...
Read moreDo not stay here. It looks nothing like the photos. It is very old and run down, with mould in the shower and dirty toilets, and extremely noisy as it was just off the main street. I booked a family room on booking.com which was advertised as having 1 extra large double bed and 1 double bed. When we got there, they asked us to cancel the booking.com reservation and pay in cash (to reduce commission fees). I wanted to see the room first and after a lot of arguing they relented and let us view it. It had a king bed and a single bed, which was not enough for our family of 5. We told them we wanted to cancel because there wasn't enough beds and the room was too dirty for us but they said no, we had to pay the full 5 nights whether we stayed there or not. After lots of arguing with the very aggressive and rude owner, we agreed to stay for 1 night plus pay an extra night's penalty (so paid for 2 nights but said we had to leave before 12 the next day), and they provided an extra rollaway. I couldn't sleep at all because our room faced the street and there were still people eating and drinking until 2 am, followed by construction until 3 am, then traffic started again at 5am. Luckily I managed to book a different hotel and we pretty much ran out of there at 7am. I normally do not write reviews but I was compelled to do so after my terrible experience, please do yourself a favour and do not...
Read moreWe stayed two nights and both days the rooms were super clean. AC’s great, no smell or anything. The staffs were very helpful and friendly, and they even provide greeting drinks when we arrived. Everything is decent except that the hotel is located on the so called “blacksmith” street, so there were hammering sounds coming from the neighboring studios during working hours. It was not bad but could be an issue for sensitive people. The family room on 5th floor with balcony is beautiful and perfect, but one of the twin rooms on 2nd floor has its window facing the lobby, so people coming in and out could see your room if you do not pull the curtains out, which is kind of interesting from certain perspectives? At night the street kind of turns into a night market, all the restaurants have their seats out on the street, so it might be fun to enjoy some great food with local people. If I ever visit Hanoi again I’ll definitely stay here!
*one more thing is that the breakfast area is very tiny, there might be chances that you’ll have to...
