room 301 staying now Jan 26th to Jan 31st Good location, big room. Staffs are really nice, responds quickly when asking assistant before we arrive, and react quickly when we were then. However, many problems and bad experiences followed. The entrance of the hotel is in an alley, there are no lights and quiet at night. Just has to be alert⚠️. The toilet smell badly and spread to whole room, is kind of dirty drains smell, which really disdisgusting. We understood this is an old city and the whole system of toilet drains are not fresh, but as a guess, we can't breathe in the toilet well even we only get a hand washing. Tonight, we have to sleep with this smell~😔😔 We stay here 5 nights at 11°C~ AND the Toilet's window is not being covered well. Also, we didn't aware the heat water came from electric boiler, I only knew it when I started to wash my hair when naked, and it took 30 minutes to reheat. I have to pay 6 nights for stay only 5 days and 3 hours, we are fine when asking for a early in for few hours, returned with an reply on asking us to book the pervious night of usd 42, ~ this is not nice but understood. Anyway, the experiences on 1st day is really really bad. The payment is not wroth and we forsee no good sleep during this holiday here in Hanoi trapped with that smell. I still rate 4 star because the staff is really good, but the living environment and charges are not comfortable.

Stayed here with my partner during our time in Hanoi. Beautiful building with lots of character. The plants out front have grown loads over the last few years and the front reception area has become a lush, private jungle. The staff had been very easy to contact prior to our arrival to arrange hotel transfers and when we arrived we were greeted with wonderful hospitality. They are so knowledgeable and accommodating. Our plans had to be rearranged a little due to flooding in central Vietnam and luckily we were able to extend our stay an extra night, and the staff recommended a group tour with one of their partner companies. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with balconnettes to enjoy the bustling city views. Big bathrooms as well! Breakfast was fresh fruit, bread, yogurt, etc plus eggs cooked your way or traditional pho. Always came quickly! The hotel is in the old quarter, tucked down the side of an alleyway. It’s central but quiet due to its location. Only 5 minutes walk to the Cathedral and loads of shops and food options around. They don’t have an elevator so if stairs are an issue, ask for a room on a lower floor. We stayed on the top floor (5th) and it was 78 steps up Thank you so much to the team at Madison d'Orient for your hospitality during our stay we will absolutely be back if we come back to Hanoi!

Great hotel and good value for money. The rooms are simple but have all necessary mod cons, e.g. a quite and efficient A/C, fridge pre-stocked with some beers, softdrinks and water, a shower with plenty of hot water, and depending on floor you are on, a great rooftop view of the area around the hotel. The breakfast is either eggs prepared in your favourite way, or a bowl of delicious Vietnamese broth and noodles. In addition there is a buffet with fresh fruit, juices, toast and cakes. More than enough to get you started for the day. I stayed in this hotel twice and enjoyed both times. Can warmly recommend the place

A quintessential budget Hanoi hotel. First challenge is finding it being at the end of an alley obscured by foliage. Your taxi will not be able to get down the road off which the alley to the hotel is located so you'll have a short walk. For info the alley is located opposite Au Lac restaurant.||Our room was Cinnamon on the 3rd floor, massive room with a double and single bed. Unquestionably in need of some smartening up, no view unfortunately, I could have reached through the window and touched the building next door. ||There is no lift for guests so consider this if you have mobility issues.||Our stay was broken by a Halong Bay overnight cruise but Michael kept the unneeded luggage safely while we were away. Michael also arranged a transfer to Halong Bay, something I had not considered when booking, I'd assumed it would be a short grab taxi to a nearby dock however it takes around 2.5Hrs to get there.||Breakfast is a simple affair, tea/coffee/juice toast, preserves, fruits and a 'how do you like your eggs' menu or Pho (noodle soup).||The weather was cold while we were there, unusually so apparently, so-much-so we had to go out and buy knock-off North Face coats, without heating the breakfast area was freezing. Not an issue in the bedroom as the aircon has a heat function which we made good use of.||WiFi is excellent, no issue hooking up the firestick for a late night movie stream. However the room is big so the small (by modern standards) TV on the opposite wall is about the same size as a mobile phone at arm's length.||Location is superb, smack in the middle of the old quarter where, as a tourist, you want to be.||Excellent budget hotel in need of some...

I'm stay in 2 night in this place, and here is my experience Good thing about this hotel : good breakfast, decorate is nice, u can feel hanoi vibe, room is ok, location is easy to moving And bad thing : the hotel really hard to find , the elevator behind the wall just for the vali or the stuff is super noisy, it can wake u up in early morning and at night when u sleep, no elevator for human , i have to climb stairs 5 floor so can i come to my room and next to the hotel is a house under construction, so u can hear the sound early morning and because of that the air quality is bad. The special thing that i come with my BF as gay couple, I'm local and he is foreigners but i can see the owner of hotel treating me and my bf in different way even though we are both customers. With my bf the owner always smile , say hi and show good attitude and call him MR... and just 1 second after he turn to me, his attitude is changed 100% , he not even call my name, use Mr , just silent and show bad attitude to me. I feel disrespected. I thought maybe I was being too sensitive but everytime i met him ,his attitude still the same with me and with my bf is opposite. When he know me and my bf stay in same room he even tell my bf and with me next to him that, that room is queen size bed are you sure is enough for 2 person, i was shocked abit at that time. So i know this place not only racist and also homophobic. This is my first time i feel so disrespectful in my whole life, the worst...
