🌿 Hi Bay Hotel, Hanoi – My Full Experience Review
📍 Location – 10/10 for Convenience
Hi Bay Hotel is tucked right in Hang Bong Street, a lively artery of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. From the moment you step outside, you’re surrounded by the rhythm of Hanoi—street food stalls sizzling, scooters weaving past, and tiny cafés serving robust Vietnamese coffee. • 5 min walk to Hoan Kiem Lake. • Close to Train Street and the weekend walking street. • Food options everywhere—from steaming bowls of pho to elegant rooftop dining.
This is the kind of location where you can explore on foot and feel like you’re living in the heartbeat of the city.

🛋️ Rooms – Stylish but Practical
The hotel markets itself as a green boutique stay, and it shows in the wooden furniture, woven décor, and earthy tones. It has a natural, calm feel that contrasts nicely with the chaos outside.
My room had: • Large comfortable bed (a bit firm for Western tastes, but with surprisingly soft pillows). • Spacious layout—enough room to open two big suitcases without tripping over them. • Balcony with a partial street view (great for people-watching, but yes, you’ll hear horns). • Bathroom with a glass shower and good water pressure. • Thoughtful touches—welcome fruit, reusable glass water bottles, tea/coffee set.
One thing to note: If you’re sensitive to noise, ask for a room on the higher floors or away from the main street. Hanoi doesn’t sleep, and neither do its motorbikes.

🍽 Breakfast – Adequate, Not a Showstopper
Breakfast is served on-site and offers both Vietnamese and Western items: • Fresh tropical fruits, banh mi, pho, omelets made to order. • Coffee was good, though a tad mild compared to street-side brew. • Limited variety—after 3–4 days, you’ll probably be looking for breakfast at nearby cafés.
Pro tip: Try local breakfast spots like Pho 10 Ly Quoc Su just a short walk away.

🤝 Service – The True Heart of the Hotel
What makes Hi Bay stand out isn’t just the location or the décor—it’s the people. The reception staff greet you with a warm smile, often remembering your name. They’ll: • Offer you a welcome drink while checking in. • Give honest, practical recommendations for food and attractions (not just tourist traps). • Arrange airport transfers and local tours without overcharging.
I found the service to be genuine and consistent—not just “scripted hospitality.”

🎯 Final Verdict
Hi Bay Hotel is perfect for travelers who want comfort, charm, and unbeatable location without paying luxury-brand prices. You get the buzz of Hanoi right at your doorstep, a cozy room to retreat to, and staff who make you feel like a valued guest, not just a booking number.
If you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs or request a quiet room. If you’re a foodie, you’ll be spoiled for choice the moment you step outside.
Would I stay again? Absolutely—especially for a short to mid-length stay when I want to be in the thick of...
Read moreI only stayed here for a night, but I really enjoyed my time at this hotel. The staff were very helpful and assisted me with early check-in, which you do have to pay for (50%). I find the hotel room cozy because of the wooden design. The bed’s big but the room space is small, which was okay given it’s in Hanoi. The location is also great because it is near many must-see places in Hanoi such as the Old Quarter where it is located and Hoan Kiem Lake, among others.
Addressing the negative feedback of others, your booking will state what type of room you have. It’ll say if you’re gonna have a view of the outside or inside of the hotel. Also the location is at the heart of Hanoi, expect noise and smaller rooms. Stop having the same universal standards wherever you go. Read your booking before complaining and reviewing.
My only feedback was that it was difficult to schedule an airport transfer with them which I should have done in advance, not a couple of days before the trip. I also liked the food for breakfast, they were delicious, but I wish they had more Vietnamese options, I see that it was catered more for foreigners which is understandable. Shoutout to Kai, for the restaurant recommendation, and Vietanh, for your friendliness...

The room is very clean and nice, and spacious enough for couple. I especially like the rustic styling. The bed is very comfortable, and their comfort room is really big.
Their supplies are complete from the mini bar to the bathroom. And they clean the room everyday. Their breakfast is buffet with adequate choices that changes everyday. And they have a la carte menu which you can order from.
The staff are really friendly and amazing. We didn't have much trouble with communication because they speak english well. I didn't get the name of the lady receptionist who always greet us good luck every morning when our guide would pick us up, but she is very friendly. As well as the male staff who made sure to take note of all my requests in terms of airport transfer and breakfast takeaway during the last day. Overall, their staff is very accomodating, especially Mr. Henry, he even went out of his way to get us weighing scale for our baggage to check if we are still within the allowable weight for our flight, and saw to it that our other requests...
