Lac Vien Hotel — Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City

My husband and I have stayed at Lac Vien on a number of previous occasions. This was to be our last, and in fact we checked out the day after we arrived, instead of staying the 4 days that we had booked.||||EXTREMELY noisy, we only managed about an hours sleep.||||phone pulled out of wall so not usable, television didn't have channels advertised, the safe didn't work - and after brining this to the attention of staff, they offered a $2 discount.||||All of the above was not as bad at the disappointment we felt at not receiving the room that we booked, being offered a very poor excuse, and being relocated into a dingy room at the rear of the hotel.||||There are much better value hotels in HCMC, that are cheaper, with better service and deliver what...

My husband and I had a very nice room in this older hotel in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City's action. Our room was very quiet, had coffee and tea making facilities and bottled water supplied each day. The room was very clean and comfortable. We did see a few small bugs in the bathroom however. A free breakfast is offered. Front desk staff were very friendly. We booked a wonderful tour to the Chu Chi tunnels at the front tour desk. The hotel is within walking distance to the Ben Thanh market, the beautiful Notre-Dame Cathedral, Post Office, War Remnants Museum and Reunification Palace. (Hotel has been renamed Eden Garden Hotel). The service here, in my experience, is quite good, and the reception staff are lovely and very friendly. However, the rooms really let this place down. We were a party of two couples and we had two deluxe rooms. They smelled damp and musty, and were quite dark and cramped. Our bathroom was very dirty (there was hair and dirt marks in the shower) and there was mold on the ceilings and walls. The beds were also very hard (could feel the springs through the mattress) and sheets and pillow cases were stained. There are so many hotels to choose from in this area that I cannot recommend...
