Tl;dr Would definitely recommend - clean, attentive, price performer.
The Sapa Relax Hotel a great hotel for someone looking for a clean, responsive, and attentive hotel.
The hotel was booked for my partner and I through a travel agency, so we had no expectations other than it was a "3 Star hotel." When we arrived, we marvelled at the cleanliness of it all - much cleaner and put together than many similarly-priced hotels.
The rooms are spacious and clean - fresh linens, no ants, separated toilet and shower, which is rich more than I can say about many other places we stayed at. The floors were mopped and cleaned and the bathrooms were spotless, to our great pleasure. There is a small fridge (no freezer section) to use, as well as a hairdryer. They also provide some disposable toiletries (comb, toothbrush/toothpaste, etc) which came in handy.
As we didn't have many details on both our tour (2 day, 1 night) of Sapa, the staff was able to help answer many of the questions we had. The staff speaks enough English, so it wasn't difficult to communicate and get information. They also have big umbrellas to borrow, which is nice, especially during the rainy season.
We actually ate here for many of our meals. The breakfast is decent, but they do have some nice options (bacon, peach juice, toast, to name a few) that tasted pretty good. When we ate here for lunch and dinner, the staff was always incredibly attentive to our needs - getting us our drinks, asking what we needed, etc. The food for lunch and dinner was mediocre, but it was incredibly convenient for us. If you're looking for a more authentic dining experience, there are many options just right outside. However, the view from the dining area is spectacular - I've posted a picture from one of the tables here.
The location is fantastic - for both tour days, the hotel was the last pick up and we were just a few blocks away from starting on the trails. The room we received had a mountain view, which would have been great if it wasn't so cloudy/foggy.
We saw the manager several times, as he was hard at work with the staff. He recognized us after a couple of times, and always asked if we needed anything with a smile. While we were all set, I felt incredibly comfortable asking if anything ever came up.
When I looked at the price of the hotel, I was very pleasantly surprised at the value of the hotel - the cost was lower than it probably could charge, and so I would recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking to...
Read moreThis is an honest review:
The photo on agoda is misleading, executive Mountain View room is not full Mountain View but partial view. 2/3 local houses 1/3 mountain. Photos should be updated.
I asked for quiet room months ago when I booked. Was put in a horrifying room 202 on 2nd floor.
202 is the worst Mountain View room, avoid this at all cost. Ask for higher room
It is same level as local house. You look right into their terrace, they started smoking as early as 7am. Bad air.
you get noise from children’s screaming and crying from local houses and dog’s barking affecting sleep, totally not relaxing at all, even renovating noise through the day
There’s a strange announcement daily through loud speaker starts 7am through out the day into night 10pm
No privacy, locals looking at you and into your room
You are above hotel’s restaurant, so it is very noisy during dinner time
You are above reception and again it’s noisy all the time esp when guests check in and check out
You are above a street where bikes and cars driving through, the non stop honking is totally not relaxing at all
Bed linens has blood and not sure what stains, even mattress pads.
Hotel’s manager is kind to give me free breakfast… to make up for the inconveniences, if not breakfast cost 100,000, staff will ask for payment upon check in.
I think above issues listed must make known to travellers who prefer a quiet and relaxing holiday and be prepared they are not going to get it in this room and not clean at all.
Breakfast was plenty, staffs are nice, they helped me got a taxi to bus station and he is the most honest vietnamese I ever met in Vietnamese, a metered taxi that cost 41,000 to go sapa express bus station, hotel is located on a steep street, it is walking distant to everywhere : cat cat village, cable car station, center
If I got higher floor room, this stay would be perfect.
Also beware there is no full Mountain View for all executive rooms but 1/3 or less because of the hotel’s facing, unless you upgrade to their suite.
If you don’t book Mountain View you are facing local houses, very near
Overall, not recommended if you are put in 202, 302, even next room which will be facing local houses.
6th sky bar is nice.
Screaming, announcement and noises videos uploaded but too bad video on this review doesn’t...
Read moreBest hotel in sapa. they gave us breakfast vouchers through our duration of the stay. I fell, and hurt my ankle, and the manager went above, and beyond to male me happy before we left. kind and friendly staff. they are incredibly funny. The staff gave us great recommendations for food. the breakfast buffet was outstanding. everything tasted delicious.
We did the spa service. I enjoyed it. the herbal steam bath was my favorite. ended up doing it twice. unfortunately I didn't get to enjoy the sauna as much as my partner did. I think mine turned off after awhile.
The water pressure was really low at the sink, but they're working on fixing it, so hopefully future guests won't have the same problem. another downside was the soap dispenser in our bathroom didn't work. I checked for people who may not bring their own soap when they travel. luckily i never leave home without our own soap.
With all that being said. I do think this hotel is worth giving a try. they are constantly improving. they are quick to handle all issues. The entire staff is amazing. the room was incredibly clean. no hair from previous guest left anywhere. No dust. No odd odors. they clean all their...
