Attractive restaurant with a hill tribe theme that caters to both tourists and locals with a menu of all the usual Sapa standards at Sapa prices, rather high that is. Staff are friendly and the food is generally good. The grilled horse for 180k came with a nice dipping sauce and the fries as well as the mushroom soup were both tasty, while the amount and variety of the latter was a bit disappointing, but then, it cost only 50k a bowl. The salmon was slightly disappointing though. For sure, it was fresh, but it would be a good idea to train the chefs in some basic sushi skills if you offer raw salmon in your restaurant. Bones in a sashimi cut are a definite no no. I also find the flavour of the farmed salmon in this region a little lacking. The meat is very lean compared to the salmon I'm used to and less flavourful, and it doesn't come cheap at 250k for a rather small portion. Having said that, I still consider A Phu one of the better places to eat in Sapa where good value food is hard to...
Read moreThis place has lots of google reviews cause the staff ask for it at the end of a meal, but it doesn’t mean they are fake reviews!
We order the smallest salmon hotpot set for 500k dong, and a generous portion of vegetables, mushrooms, tofu and salmon came. Really value for money and the salmon was really good. There were quite a few bones which made it a bit of a hassle to eat but the quality of the salmon made up for it.
Soup had a slightly sour/tart flavour, along with a low level of spice, and was overall pretty tasty with bean curd slices and some herb.
Staff was really friendly as well and tried their best even though they didn’t speak much english. Menu did not have english but just use google translate and you’ll be fine.
Overall I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to try sapa...
Read morethis place has a lot of great reviews so i came as a chance to experience it in real life, overall the food is great, the service of staff make us feel comfortable while they always be there take care of us, most of staff are ethnic people so the communication capacity is a little bit limited when face with foreigners.
In details, we order a salmon hotpot which is served with slices of salmon, it feels hassle when eating because of the small salmon bones. The broth is quite sour, sweet and smooth, very suitable when eating in Sa Pa's weather. Salmon sashimi is also a good option to try there.
The A Phủ's menu didn't have an English version, its a minus one for foreigners. It has a variety of foods for people to choose, especially local cuisines like buffalo, chicken, salmon, sturgeon, horse served with...
