Attractive restaurant with a hill tribe theme that caters to both tourists and locals with a menu of all the usual Sapa standards at Sapa prices, rather high that is. Staff are friendly and the food is generally good. The grilled horse for 180k came with a nice dipping sauce and the fries as well as the mushroom soup were both tasty, while the amount and variety of the latter was a bit disappointing, but then, it cost only 50k a bowl. The salmon was slightly disappointing though. For sure, it was fresh, but it would be a good idea to train the chefs in some basic sushi skills if you offer raw salmon in your restaurant. Bones in a sashimi cut are a definite no no. I also find the flavour of the farmed salmon in this region a little lacking. The meat is very lean compared to the salmon I'm used to and less flavourful, and it doesn't come cheap at 250k for a rather small portion. Having said that, I still consider A Phu one of the better places to eat in Sapa where good value food is hard to find these days.
