Date: 04/07/2025 time 0815 Not entirely sure what the cashier’s problem was but she seemed to be so irritated by the fact that I was standing by the fragrance cabinet. I was just standing and waiting for someone to come unlock the fragrance cabinet and/or I was quite happy to wait until she had finished serving the line. I didn’t even say a word to her. Now I can understand the shop being understaffed, but through my earphones I heard her yell (in front of everyone) “if you want a fragrance you’re gonna have to line up like everyone else!” And I was taken back by this because she was making it sound like I was trying to jump the line or something. So I just politely replied “I’m just waiting for someone to open the cabinet” and she said “yeah, well, I’m the only one on”. Wasn’t sure how she expected me to know that. Had a really bizarre experience in this store today. As I was browsing, a staff member approached me and told me to wear a mask (fair enough, didn't realize it was mandatory in this shop). He then, strangely, proceeded to serve multiple maskless customers in front of me without requesting them to also wear masks. Then I found an empty shelf for the product I was looking for with a ticket saying "Out of stock, please ask staff for assistance". So I ask the same staff member for assistance while showing him the product on my phone and his assistance was limited to 4 words: "Guess we're sold out". He couldn't even be bothered to look up stock on the POS system. I guess the guy keeps an accurate stock level of every product in the store in his head. I've shopped at this Hobart branch many times after work over the years and I will never go back again after tonight. I purchased an item and as I was leaving a female customer yelled at me from the doorway saying I was a thief and they were a cop (in plain clothes) I went back into the store cooperating and was interrogated by this woman saying she had seen me put something in my bag which I had, my purchased item... and the staff did nothing at all while I was made to feel like a suspect, repeatedly. After going through my bag this woman found nothing (as I had taken nothing) I demanded to leave and left. I am beyond infuriated and it left me feeling like I was in the wrong though I had simply made a purchase...if I could leave minus...
