We had the WORST experience ever. The only true fact about this place is that they have a huge variety of flavours. But our visit was a completely stressful disaster. When we got there the room was packed with customers (literally packed). It was hard to see and choose the flavours - we had to peek or look over somebody' shoulder. The server (owner's son) asked us to make it quick because we were holding up the line ( not even once I heard the words such as please, thank you, hello - these words were erased from staff's vocabulary). Then the owner's wife overheard us taking and she assumed that we were talking about their place. She rudely asked us (only based on her assumptions ) to leave their store immediately. My husband asked her to explain herself. Seconds later her husband (owner of the store) jumped at my husband threatening him and demanding us to leave, without no grounds and reasons. His son joined him and almost pushed my husband at his chest. Then he shouted at the top of his lungs that a delay in serving should be blamed on my husband. All the customers couldn't understand what was going on. The owner's son behaved as if he wanted to fight. That was unacceptable and brutal. We left and never going back there again. But now I think we should have called the police because what was plain harrassment. I've never had such a horrible customer service my life. If you don't want to be punched in your face AVOID this place...
Read moreThe aged gentlemen was extremely rude. Do not come here. We went to Grandma Ice Cream to try their ice cream and support a local shop. When we entered, there were no other customers, just an aged gentleman and a younger guy working with him. Since it was our first time and there were so many flavors to choose from, I politely asked for a recommendation. To my surprise, the aged gentleman rudely responded, pointing toward a board that wasn’t even visible when you first walk in, and said, “Can you look over there?!” His tone and attitude were very unwelcoming. As a customer, especially in a small business, I expected kindness and a willingness to help, not to be treated like an inconvenience. I now understand why many people are hesitant to come here. If the goal is to attract and keep customers, this is definitely not the way to do it. To the aged gentleman: please learn to treat customers with respect. To the younger staff member: I feel sorry that you have to work in this kind of environment. I truly hope you don’t pick up the same negative attitude. Even though I was rudely approached, I still purchased ice creams to support the business. But honestly, this shop does not deserve to stay open unless the behavior changes. After reading other reviews, I see that my experience is not unique. Sadly, those negative...
Read moreIf ever you're in Jasper, Alberta, don't forget to try Grandma's Place, a family-owned ice cream shop. I read the other reviews before I posted this and I can't understand the 1 star reviews saying they are racist and rude because our experience with the crew : son-in-law, grandson and the "adopteds" (you'll understand when you get there) are very different. They are friendly and joke around with us. With more than 20 flavours to choose from, it can be overwhelming and I ended up with Saskatoon Berry flavour. Yummy! Our party of 7 each got different flavours and everyone was happy with their choice. We even went back to the restaurant where we had lunch before to thank the server for recommending Grandma's when she heard we were planning to go to the other ice cream shop in town. And for those saying they are racist, fyi, we are...
