I never write bad reviews for restaurants, but the staff left me no choice.
I had the worst experience of my life at the restaurant establishment - Tsuki Sushi Bar. We waited for 15 minutes for a table - no problem at all. Once we were seated, it took another 20 minutes for the waitress to even acknowledge our presence. I had a beer and my girlfriend had a soda. Again, it took about 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order. Once again, no big deal, since we came early. Once we finally flagged her down (after 50 minutes of total waiting) she said "we're very busy. It will probably take over 30 minutes for your food." This is where I have an issue. Where was she when we first sat down to inform us that there is a long wait for everything and you won't get your food for a while. She never mentioned any of that until AFTER we ordered our drinks and had a total of 2 sips each. By that time, we decided to leave. Unfortunately my girlfriend forgot her expensive sunglasses on the table so she went back to retrieve them and the man working there was holding her sunglasses ransom and refused to give it back to her. In lieu of giving back her glasses, he had he audacity to ask us to pay the bill of the two drinks (in which we had two sips each) we had earlier which, remember, we would NOT had ordered ANYTHING had our server gave us the courtesy of notifying us that it is busy and the food will take 30+ min. The principle is you must notify the clients prior to them ordering if there is going to be a delay of any sort. The fact she took our order and then told us that there is longer than the usual delay is unacceptable. Customer service on all fronts, from the beginning, to when we sat down, to when it took 20 minutes to get our initial drinks, to when it took another 15 minutes to flag her down to order, to them accusing us and saying it's embarrassing we didn't pay for drinks that they THREW OUT and we only had couple sips of - was beyond atrocious. Never again. I have worked in the restaurant industry for over 7 years and have never seen such a thing.
Save your money. There's about 1,000 other sushi restaurants in Vancouver that will actually respect you...
Read moreI was really disappointed with my experience here. I had come with my child for a pre show dinner and we had a solid hour before our show was due to start. The restaurant was mostly empty with people at the bar and a few of the side tables. The big table in the middle was entirely empty. There were 4-5 staff working behind the counter which usually means quick service. The food looked really good going by what I saw other people eating so I was looking forward to a delicious meal. We sat down and placed our orders and then sat there for nearly 40 minutes waiting for our food, being served only miso soup during that time.
Meanwhile we watched plate after plate of food be delivered to the 4 people sitting at the bar and takeout orders be prepped and picked up as we got hungrier and more annoyed. Finally I asked the server (who was very nice and polite but seemed a bit stressed) how much longer the wait would be and was told that they had not yet started the order and it would be a further 10-15 minutes. At that point my appetizer finally came and I asked them to cancel the rest of my order because it had been 45 minutes wait at that point and we no longer had time to eat. I was informed that they had just started preparing the first part of my daughter’s order so I had them cancel everything else so at least she would be able to eat.
I left 2 stars instead of 1 because the server was doing his best under the circumstances, but a 45 minute wait in a nearly empty restaurant with lots of staff working is ridiculous. We...
