Went in to the store to talk to Maren. I mentioned that they did work for me in the past and I wanted them to do another design for me. We explained that we wanted a ring designed. We would be providing the diamond. A $26,000.00, 1.52 K, perfect cut, Black Label, ForeverMark diamond which we purchased from another vendor, as there are only a few in BC that sells these exquisite diamonds. Maren proceeded to question why I bought that diamond, as opposed to another. With this being asked, I briefly had to school her on the ForeverMark grading process and quality. It made me feel rather uneasy and foolish in front of my wife, moreover not what a professional salesperson would do. Nevertheless, I wanted to proceed with the design. They told me the CaD design would be about a week and the other ring in about the same time. We were told that the CAD design would be pixelated and rough, but the wax mold would look close to the finished product.
As I had not received the second ring CAD I called this morning. Maren told me she had the design and was going to call me. I spoke to her about the second ring design and she told me that the CAD is going to look the same as the first ring and the wax rendering for both rings are not going to look like the finished product. I said that I basically have to trust you, as opposed to you showing me what the ring design is going to be? She said yes. I mentioned that in today's day and age, I find it baffling as to why I cannot see what the rings will finally look like. I questioned the software being used in the design and mentioned that her boss may want to upgrade to today's current technology.
I received a phone call from the owner. He started to say that it is in our......I cut him off......and asked for my money back. I think Maren is a bad fit for that business. The person I dealt with before was a consummate professional and did not speak to me in a condescending manner. They were ForeverMark diamonds I had mounted in their design. Perhaps Maren should school herself with ForeverMark.....The best quality money can buy, before pretending to know it all.
I passed his design to the jeweler who will be designing my ring. Their CAD designer told me that his computer program is old and not current per today's standard. A small investment in technology could be a good...
Read moreTo be clear, the service Danny provided was great. It was pleasant dealing with him. His customer service was 5 out of 5. Prior to Danny, one of the sales associate lady there couldn't even differentiate different pave settings.
The craftmanship for custom made engagement ring by their jewler is below mediocre. We had to get them to rectify some details, and it seems in doing so one of the prong was poorly soldered. I can also see the dents caused from the pliers. Inner part of the prong and pave is not properly polished. Hallmark is cut off. I was very disappointed with the pave. You get a CAD wax model before the ring is made but the one we were shown was the ring without the pave. I assume they don't have the technology to 3D print the samples in finer details and the jewlers just work on the pave as they go. I get that it is handmade, but I expected more intricate details. All these details can be seen with a naked eye. I clearly provided a photo of what I wanted. I didn't get the one I wanted and got a dupe version of that.
I realized later that the lab diamond we purchased was, extremely, too overpriced. I wish we had done more research on how much they go for in the market before we made the purchase. The setting was also way too expensive for the craftmanship.
Despite all this, we kept the ring. We ran out of time for more adjustments, and I got engaged with it, so it became sentimental. I am sure Danny would have taken it back for more changes but when I got it back after the second adjustment I knew the core problem was their jewler's craftmanship that I was unsatisfied with, so I didn't want to waste more time.
If you are detail oriented and well-versed in jewlery, I don't recommend full custom jewlery from here. If you are a simple person, it's not bad. If you have to shop here I would suggest to go for pre-made or less intricate custom pieces, although you could probably find more reasonable...
Read moreWow! I simply can't say enough good things about Minichiello Jewellers. The whole process of designing and making my wife's engagement ring (with Maren) was absolutely amazing. The staff were so nice, knowledgeable and there is never any pressure. I also got a really cool wax rendering of what the ring would look like before it was made. The ring when it came was perfect! Of course I had to get the wedding band and it as well was perfect. Could not be happier! Fast forward four years and my wife has started having problems with a couple of the micro pavé diamonds falling out. It was a really pronounced micro pavé set design, but I was starting to get worried about upkeep costs. The first time it happened Minichiello gave me a really great deal to repair it. The second time it happened Cobie and the staff at Minichiello had a look at the ring and were not happy with the problems my wife was having with her ring. To our amazement they offered to completely remake the ring for us - FOR FREE - utilizing channel set pavé diamonds to help protect each diamond more for my wife. The ring has come back now and it is better than the original. Not only is it absolutely stunning, but it is now constructed more with longevity in mind. I have never in my life been treated to this level of customer service. Thank you so much Minichiello Jewellers. This is why you are the best! You have another customer for life here! I look forward to designing and purchasing more...
