I came to Vancouver with family as a visitor on spring break, and one thing I really wanted to do was have sushi in this city. We decided to try out Sushi Howe, as it was walking distance from my hotel. We were not disappointed! This place is located beside the Tim Hortons on Davie St, so you can’t miss it.

As an appetizer, we ordered assorted tempura and sashimi.

As a meal, I ordered 8 dragon rolls for ~$16, and I could tell the ingredients were high quality. My dad got a bento box. It included 8 pieces of sushi, teriyaki beef, 2 spring rolls, a few pieces of tempura and salad, all for $16. Every bite of it was splendid. Even the salad dressing was amazing! My mom ordered two platters of spring rolls (about 12 in total). Again, it was amazing. I liked having some, and I’m not even big on spring rolls! We got one more plate of beef teriyaki as well.

The restaurant has a beautiful, cozy atmosphere. The staff are amazing people, and we felt at home the second we walked in.

In total, we spent $82 (Including taxes) and gave a 20% tip. I think we spent less than we would have if we ate at McDonald’s or Edo. The value we got for our buck is amazing, especially considering this place is in downtown Vancouver. We came home with 3 takeout plates, that’s how much food we had!

Don’t go to Edo, go to Sushi Howe!

Thanks for making our...

For me, simply the best place to eat food in Vancouver. Yes, not specifically sushi, it is the best restaurant compared to any restaurant in Vancouver. Keep reading if you want to know why.

Making good sushi is hard. Providing sincere and caring service is even harder. Doing all the above while keeping the prices affordable is unbelievable, unheard of. The atmosphere, people who make the sushi, the server, everything is top quality.

We were there for the 2nd time, that day we were going through a challenging life situation, and for some reason we ended up grabbing dinner at Sushi Howe. Needless to say the dinner had therapeutic effects on us and we left with a much different, much better mood that we came in.

Now this is how you do good business, I am not only taking time to type this review, but I am telling about this place to my friends and colleagues (many of whom already knew about this place and agreed with my assessment) and will continue to be their advocate, as long as they keep up their approach to dining experience.

A wholehearted gratitude to the server, who wiped a tear from the chick...

I like this place for sushi and I order from them quite a bit. There are many many sushi places in Vancouver and especially downtown Vancouver, and especially in this block's vicinity, and I've tried almost all of them. So, comparatively speaking Sushi Howe makes the most sense....to me anyhow. I'll tell you why.

Their sushi is consistently fresh and rolled well and it doesn't cost you your first born. When you place an order over the phone they consistently give you the time of day and patiently take your order clarifying everything. Their menu options are plenty and culinarily creative. When you pick up your order they are attentive, friendly and professional...consistently.

The only thing I would recommend for improvement is their miso soup. I personally find that the right amount of soy and seaweed and salt in relation to the consistency of the miso ingredient is vital to a really great miso soup and that they could do better in. However, I do like their sushi enough to overlook the miso situation.

I've enjoyed their sushi every time I've ordered, and I'm very picky....so that...

So nice we came back twice! I brought my partner to vancouver for the first time and this spot was right by our Airbnb. I’ve been talking up how good sushi is in Vancouver and this place lived up to all expectations. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Recommend trying their chopped scallop nigiri and dynamite roll. We had it both in the restaurant and to go and both times were perfect. The prices are fair for the area, two of us ate for $40. Can’t recommend enough if you’re in the area!

I have been to this sushi place several times while visiting Downtown. Their crunch rolls are awesome with a great combination of spice, panko crust , cream cheese and prawn tempura. I have tried some of their other special rolls like dynamite roll, monkey brains (with avocado and fish), spicy agedashi tofu and some other classic rolls. The staff are lovely here. The price of the food is very reasonable as well. Overall this place is highly recommended for sushi lovers.
