I would like to start by saying that my experience at Grand Marina Suites was nothing short of AMAZINGGGG!!! If you are coming to Santa Marta and want to know where to stay, this is your place! ||||Location: The location was central and walking distance to everything. The grocery market was literally one block away, the mariner dock was one block away and the historic center was about 4 blocks away. Keep in mind that their blocks are very short in distance. My wife and I both felt safe here and never had a problem walking the streets. We felt like locals to a certain degree. ||||Aesthetics: The apartment was modern, clean and spacious. Living room, dining area, separate bedroom and bathroom plus a full kitchen and laundry machine. Everything was well stocked (laundry detergent, glassware, and other essential dishes). ||||Amenities: I purchased the in-room 60 minute massage which was so relaxing and convenient (as well as inexpensive). The pool and pool bar was one of my favorites. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was great and I definitely enjoyed more than once. I didn't get a chance to use the gym but it was nice and private.||||Staff: Couldn't have been any better in my opinion. I was able to communicate with them at any given time through What'sApp. They were able to assist me with booking the in-room massage, scheduling my shuttle to and from the airport, excursions, find local restaurants and directions to places nearby for sightseeing. They were so pleasant, spoke English, and make sure we were taken care of during our stay.||||The Only Con: I could hear kids crying on my floor because the hallways were small (not the apartment) so during my massage I was interrupted for a little.||||Overall: 5/5 for this property and experience!! I will be staying here whenever I decide to return to...
Read moreI visited a friend who resides in central Santa Marta. After some research, I narrowed down my options to AC Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn, and Grand Marina.
I opted for Grand Marina due to its significantly lower cost compared to the chain hotels. Interestingly, both AC Marriott and Grand Marina are situated in the same building, sharing amenities like the pool, gym, and breakfast area. This made me glad I chose Grand Marina for the cost savings.
Moreover, the Grand Marina section of the building offered better views and was closer to the sea. They even upgraded me to a spacious 1200-square-foot, 2-bedroom apartment on a higher floor.
It's worth noting that Grand Marina leans more towards being a serviced apartment/hotel hybrid. While they have a front security desk, there's no restaurant/bar, concierge, or room service.
The room was well-equipped with a washer, coffee maker, and kitchen essentials. Every window in the apartment provided incredible views, and there were two balconies to enjoy. However, it's important to note that due to nearby construction of high-rise buildings (as of February 2024), sitting on the balcony during the day isn't feasible because of the noise, dust, and debris.
The location couldn't have been better, with just a 5-minute walk to the seaside promenade, Boyfriend Park, and various restaurants. I felt safe walking back to the hotel at night as there was a police station a block away with officers stationed outside at all times.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, especially considering the limited number of higher-end options in...
Read moreThese are great apartments, including balconies with sea views (I think most or all do). The building complex (and interiors) is close to brand new and it is one of the newest, upmarket accommodation in Santa Marta. Think marble floors, quality fittings, big windows in the living room with lots of light and views, etc.|Located close to the marina, 2 mins from Santa Marta promenade, 5 minutes from the tourist/night life area around Parque de los Novios, but not too close (!)|The apartments are part of the overall Marriott hotel development with direct access on the fourth floor to dining, gym, pool etc. which is useful.|There is a good supermarket walking distance and a great cafe “the library cafe” right outside the front doors, and a bar/bistro in a smart new development by the marina waterfront a minute away.|The staff at reception were very nice and friendly, checkin was swift, and they have a team WhatsApp to stay in touch, and nothing was too much to ask for them.|This place is feels like an oasis when returning from the streets of Santa Marta.|Good value too. I would stay again. Highly...
