Tayrona Sailing — Local services in Santa Marta

We booked a private tour with Tayrona Sailing based on a recommendation from a friend who knows Nico, the owner. The booking process was smooth, but we were disappointed to find that the boat was quite old, which we nicknamed "the galeón." It definitely showed its age and could use some tender loving care (TLC).

The staff was very attentive, and although we had planned to go to Playa Cinto, the weather conditions and rough seas made that impossible. Instead, we decided to stop at Playa Concha. It’s a beautiful beach, but unfortunately, there was a lot of trash. We enjoyed a nice lunch and did some snorkeling. However, the return trip was challenging due to high winds and strong waves, but our group managed to handle it well.

I’m giving this experience 3 stars primarily because of the boat’s condition. Additionally, we later realized that we paid double for the private tour compared to prices on Viator, where it was half the cost. For the price, the boat and service did not meet expectations. We booked this trip less than 24 hours in advance because we realized the park was closing in 2 days. We booked directly from the website. Once we arrived, the staff told us we were not going to the beach that was scheduled but that we were still going to a beach in the park. This was not the case. We went to a sad little stone covered beach just up from Taganga that had a bunch of trash and plastic bags in the water. I believe it’s called Playaca beach. We ended up not getting back on the boat and taking a taxi into Tayrona park to go to a nice beach and several other people from the boat ride joined us. The people on the boat were nice enough and helpful, and the boat itself was nice and life jackets were provided, but I do not recommend this excursion. They should have told us at booking that the tour was not going into the park as that was the entire reason we booked that particular tour. Other people on the trip got this information and had the option to cancel, we did not, and it didn’t seem that everyone got that information and option, just...

The boat is a very nice sale boat and the captain and staff were so great especially charlie, he speaks English and he was always making sure everything was fine he even looked out for us that no one on the beach try to overprice us, the ride there was amazing so beautiful it’s breathtaking views the only thing is the beach has nothing there no Resteraunts or bars or music pretty much just swim and lounge but the crew gave us unlimited drinks and they cooked us a whole fish each with salad plantains and rice grilled right on the boat, it’s an all day trip great for the money just make sure to bring your own towels other then that it’s amazing...
