Serena Tropical Bistro — Restaurant in Santa Marta

Loved this place the first time we went. The next time we took 10 people! Was good but slightly less so. We came tonight and exactly four couples here. We were just two people and the only couple getting food. Yet the calamari was cut too thin and far overcooked. We ate it and hoped for better. Then the medium rare filet - not great quality and over seasoned to disguise that - and the corvina taking 45 minutes while 7 servers stood around chatting and it was farrrrrr overcooked. Of note we had to ask our server for another cocktail twice. And our servers kept changing!

Super disappointing And we gave them 5 stars the last visit! Wow! Terrible. Manager came over and talked to us and our server said “if the food is bad on the first bite, let us know. LOL. Amazing. I ate 1/4 of th corvina, which last time was a filet and this time chopped into tiny pieces and very overcooked as were all four muscles. Manager and server were very nice but did nothing to try to correct anything. Zero. Not a desert, cafe, nothing. We own 7 restaurants and this would never fly in the US or Medellin. What a gem! This restaurant gets an easy 5 stars. The service was impeccable. We were greeted warmly by the attentive staff and seated at a comfortable table. We had a late lunch with my daughter and son in law. All of this dishes were devoured. I had the fried calamari and the vegetarian gyoza. The calamari was fresh and cooked perfectly. Nothing overcooked or chewy! Lightly battered and served with crispy jalapeños and a sweet dipping sauce. The gyoza was crispy and chewy with a delicious savory veg filling and a spicy sauce. I had the most incredible dining experience here in Santa Marta! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and a smile that made me feel right at home.
