I WAS PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED by the "boss" Alan.
I want to preface this by saying I stayed over a week in Paris and had an amazing time, with this exception (see my other Google reviews).
I wrote a review on GetYourGuide and was going to leave it at that, but Alan continued to harass us by sending a WhatsApp message calling me a liar.
GetYourGuide limited me to 1,000 characters, so here’s a deeper dive.
I wasn’t going to write this review on Google, but Alan’s WhatsApp message triggered this, along with Alan’s ego, pride, and his need to show everyone he’s “the boss.”
When we went upstairs, Alan looked around and tried to seat us at the interior table, so it seemed arbitrary.
There were 3 tables open on the top at the time on the exterior.
We simply asked if we could be seated somewhere else where my partner could see the views better because she is under 5 feet tall and it’d be difficult for her to see.
He rudely told us these were our seats and we had to sit down.
We tried to reason with him because her view would’ve been blocked and he got even angrier, yelling, “I’m the boss! Sit down!”
So with no explanation, rhyme, or reason, we could only deduce that it was within his power but he chose not to.
Feeling upset because we were berated by him, we sat down on the couches trying to figure out what to do.
Then, Alan and the captain came over and Alan continued to insist that’s our table and we need to sit there.
Alan was the one who brought the captain over, so we thought the captain could be some sort of intermediary or help resolve the issue.
As we tried to explain to the captain what happened, Alan snapped and yelled at us, “Don’t talk to him! I AM THE BOSS!”
I thought, “Ok, then why did you bring him over if he couldn’t help?”
Then we asked if we could sit on couches instead.
He continued to yell and berate us telling us it was impossible and he was the boss.
I was angry but simply decided we wouldn’t upgrade to their upper level and we’d sit downstairs instead because we didn’t want to be around Alan’s energy and ego.
Then we sat downstairs which was cramped compared to upstairs as people kept bumping my chair.
Then a waiter came by to ask what had happened. We explained and the waiter was sympathetic.
However, as we were explaining it, Alan already ruined our night we just wanted a refund.
At this point, the boat hadn’t left and no services were rendered.
The waiter said we would get a refund.
Then he handed us the phone to speak with Kensy to get our money back. She was not very helpful and unsure if they would approve the refund. She said things like “You could’ve canceled 24 hours ago.”
Yeah, but 24 hours ago, Alan’s ego wasn’t an issue. We couldn’t have foreseen this problem 24 hours ago.
Then Kensy continued to gaslight us saying we didn’t understand Parisian culture and Alan didn’t speak English.
No, his English was very good and there was no miscommunication.
We were in Paris for over a week and no other Parisians were like this (see my other reviews).
When we demanded our money back as the boat hadn't left and services weren't rendered, I got into a heated debate with Alan.
Without any explanation prior, he left me no choice but to try and figure out why he was being so nasty to us.
The only thing I could deduce and infer that was different between us and the others was we were Americans or because I'm Asian.
So in the heat of the argument, I said, “What’s your problem? Do you hate Americans? You don’t like Asians?”
He yelled, “I HAVE 100 CHINESE FRIENDS!”
To me, this sounded like an overcompensation for the accusation.
Alan then started yelling and shoving me very aggressively with his right hand several times, until I yelled at him not to touch me.
I’m 100% convinced they only offered a refund because I screamed at him and caused a scene.
He promised us a cash refund but then immediately changed his mind and we had to WhatsApp him.
We eventually got our refund after a few days through GetYourGuide, which is why I said it took forever in my...
Read moreEDIT: The owner initially wrote very nasty responses to all of people who left poor reviews. Now, if you look, you will see very kind and polished responses. Just take a look at the dates they were left. All around the same dates and happen to have nice and sane responses.
"THE BOSS", ALAIN IS DERANGED. I HARDLY EVER WRITE BAD REVIEWS BUT HE RUINED SOMETHING WE WERE SO EXCITED FOR AND DOESN'T THINK HE DID ANYTHING WRONG BC HE GAVE US A REFUND.
We were only going to leave a review on GetYourGuide but since "the boss" is so nasty I feel the need to warn others on other sites.
Once we left the review on GetYourGuide he sent me a message via WhatsApp which is 100% inappropriate. He called us liars and was pissed that we still wrote a review eventhough he gave us a refund. Since he wants to be acknowledged for that, thanks for the refund! I know we are the lucky ones because I see tons of poor reviews where they refused to give refunds.
I think he only gave us the refund because we started getting into a loud altercation with him. To be clear, he is a huge bully and started it. We tried to speak with him in a polite manner but that only gave him more fuel to raise his voice at us and tap his fingers very aggressively on my partner's chest. Umm, excuse me, it's never ever ok to put your hands/fingers on someone else.
This altercation happened because we agreed to pay an additional fee to sit on the top of the boat for a better view. He sat us at a table next to strangers, which I wouldn't have minded if we were on the inside of the table so I could see better (I'm shorter than 5 ft).
There were 3 empty tables so I tried to politely ask "the boss"/Alain if we could sit at a different table. I was aggressively interrupted before I could give my reasoning. He was completely unreasonable, angry, argumentative and an egomaniac. If he's the boss, and a reasonable person then why couldn't we sit at a table where I could see better?
Unless you want to deal with an angry and abusive company you should go with a...
Read moreOverall, we had a nice time on this dinner cruise. Here were some pros and cons.
Pros: Great Views Loved the rooftop deck Nice long cruise Fun music and cruisemates
Cons: The drinks - the cruise comes with one glass of bottled water per person. You have to pay €7 for additional water. There is no tap water. Given this, we decided to order a bottle of wine instead, they were out of the least expensive wine so that was an added cost we were not expecting.
They have a birthday celebration with little fireworks. We specifically came on the cruise for a milestone birthday and the guest was not provided with anything during the birthday celebration. I am not sure if this was an oversight on my part, but it was a rough part of the trip.
There were also some strange circumstances while we were on the cruise. Twice during dinner we were interrupted by spiders on the ceiling. At one point we had someone take their shoes off to kill the spider since it was such a distraction. The cruise also pulled over to the side of the road and had crew members jump off mid cruise. It was fun to watch them do this, but kind of concerning since we did not know initially why the cruise had stopped and pulled all the way over to the side of the river. Lastly, the cruise was delayed until 8:30 on the day of our boarding. We had got there at 7:15 for boarding and just stood outside at the unidentified dock for the hour plus until they let us on. They did send an email about this, but we did not see it so we were there on time.
All things considered- it was a cruise to remember. The food was good, but made us think we should have just booked a regular cruise (without dinner) and bought ala cart drinks for the...
