Disappointing Teppanyaki Experience at Benkay
I recently dined at Benkay for their teppanyaki, and unfortunately, it was underwhelming. For the price you pay, I expected much more in terms of flavor and quality. The ingredients didnât stand out, and there was nothing special about the dishes â they lacked creativity and depth. The chef was charming and made for a pleasant ambiance, but that couldn't make up for the below-par food.
If youâre looking for a teppanyaki experience thatâs truly worth the price, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Itâs hard to justify the cost when the food is this mediocre. plus when we tried to find the entrance the hotel workers didnât know what we were talking about and had to ask about 5 times until someone knew where...

Another thing that was rather strange was that there was a celebrity couple sitting at the same table as us.The chef decided to talk mostly to them and play with his phone under the table and over it, showing pictures to the rest of the guests of the famous couple.
At the end of the day we should have walked out after seeing the mouse, that is on us, but I would have expected the staff to at least give us an apology and some sort of compensation. We will not be recomending this...
Read moreI had great expectations, because I love teppan-yaki and Iâve experienced it in a number of places in Tokyo and elsewhere. This one was, unfortunately, deceiving. The chefs didnât perform any trick, not even the simplest ones; the dishes were unimaginative; the lobster was modest in flavor; and the wagyu fillet was very fat (not marble fat) and a bit chewy (although that is understandable, since 100g of real Japanese wagyu cost more than the whole Benkay menu). The setting is also very plain and makes the atmosphere feel like one is seated at a brasserie counter, rather than at a...
