Freshly made taiyakis with different fillings available. Stumbled onto this very very small shop located at the back of a narrow alley where small chairs and tables are aligned to try some taiyakis with a classic filling of anko (red bean paste) and the intriguing seasonal sakura one. The taiyakis are being made by the minute so when you get them, be careful as it can be quite hot. Went to enjoy them fresh just outside the shop on the chairs and it was a pure bliss! The outer layer is crispy while the inside stays quite soft. Both taiyakis were full: the anko one had a very rich texture, not too sweet an was perfectly balanced, and the sakura one had quite an unusual yet familiar taste I can't really describe. A bit salty, I think it was also filled with bean paste but a white one (the inside isn't pink like the dough). The owner is a really sweet person, very open to foreigners, you could taste the love he pours in his creations. There is also some kakigoris as well as ice cream, but the main star is obviously the sweet fish. For just ¥200 you can have a little piece of paradise and maybe get some extra luck after this...
Read moreMe and a friend decided to try the tayaki making experience (reservation needed online, around ¥3500 per person)— 6 tayaki per person+1drink.
You get a private room very nicely decorated in Japanese style and the lovely staff guides you and your friends through every step of making the X pieces (6 taiyaki per person) while helping you take photos, videos etc. it’s a family business and you can see that through and through on how they talk to each other, the customers and even the space itself.
You can choose from a seasonal array of savory and sweet fillings for your taiyaki and after you get to eat it with a drink, but not to worry you can take the left overs home (although after one day I wouldn’t recommend the quality of the tayaki…).
While they prepare the ingredients for the class you get to watch a video about the history of tayaki and some celebrities that enjoy it, this part is a little bit awkward but helps in the making of the recipe because the instructions are written down. All in all really fun but 6 pieces is a little bit too much since they “withered” really fast in the...
Read moreVery delicious taiyaki!!! I got the curry taiyaki and the spice level was perfect. The bathroom was very clean and easily accessible. I went on a Thursday around noon and it wasn’t busy at all, only a couple people came through to make their own taiyaki. A big flatscreen gives instructions on how to make your own taiyaki. You don’t have to make your own, it costs about 35$ if you do want to. Sitting in to eat you must buy a drink with the taiyaki and it was about 5-7$ per person. If you take it to go it’s around 3-4$ They have red bean, custard, cheese, matcha and curry flavour options. The room where you sit was a little cold but I was fine wearing my jacket. Better than being too hot! They have a couple of accessories which you can wear to take photos. Overall a great experience and I would...
