I hardly do reviews but I have to do one for this amazing bar find. I was looking on google maps and found this with raving reviews of not only the drinks but about the legendary owner and bartender - Champ san! He’s an MMA Champion, and holds black belts in so many things like Judo, Karate, etc. His bar is popular and we got lucky that my brother and I were the only ones there so we got to talk to him long. What an amazing bar!!! Also! If you are female and solo, Champ san makes you feel safe. I was waiting for my brother to arrive and talking to Champ san was great!

Visited Japan 🇯🇵 for my son’s 30th birthday with my partner and we stoped by Hold On. Don’t be surprised, you have to walk up like your going into an apartment building but sure enough you get to the 302 and you walk into an amazing Soul Fest! Champ has all the LPs oldies and goodies music playing with tributes all over the walls to amazing Black Soulful musicians. If you find yourself in Taito, please give him a visit, trust me, you won’t regret it!

Great vibe at this place. Bartender owner is such a character - definitely my best interaction with a local since being in Tokyo for 1 week. He is very personable and showed us his magic tricks which were so much fun. I ordered Negronis which were perfectly made (I admit, hard to mess up) and one Old Fashioned which was okay. Come here for a fun time to get away from a stuffy cocktail bar.

After all the rave reviews. We went to this bar. And honestly was disappointed. It was 8pm on a Saturday night and either the host was having a bad day or didn’t want us there. We were the only people in the bar. I asked for a. Beer and was told it’s sold out. Ok. I problem I had a gimlet. The host didn’t want to talk or anything and sat in the back room (seemingly a 1m2 space). After a drink we paid and left. The place was pretty cool inside. But if I wanted to just have a drink I’d go elsewhere. We tried to chat to the host about his surfing. Or MMA. Or frankly anything . I guess he was just not in the mood. Ohh well plenty of other...
