We spent 3 nights here and it was the worst place we stayed in during our trip to Japan. Please see the pictures and decide for yourself. |This place is dirty and the building is not well maintained. We stayed at other ryokans that were renovated and clean. This place was anything but clean. |The dirty walls, stain on the glass doors, peeling wood off the ceiling in our room was noticeable since the beginning. There are living cockroaches in the hostel. Old sheets and bedding that had changed color and made me wonder if they were properly washed. Old beanbag pillows which were not comfortable. We instead rolled clothing under our heads to sleep. |The shower rooms were in bad condition and terribly dirty. There was a number of soap, shampoo and conditioners left from previous guests and the manager provided those to us to use. |All 20 residents shared two small garbage bins located in the hall rather than individual ones in every room.|The hostel seems to be predominantly for male travelers. We happened to have a group of male travellers above us who liked to party until late at night and left us restless. During our stay, there was 3 females including myself out of 20 travellers which made it feel like a male dormitory as everyone shared total of 4bathrooms and two showers in the hostel. The privacy of our room was affected by the gap beside the entrance door so the inside of our room was visible from the outside (see picture). |There was a shared kettle, teaspoons (no other cultery), handful of cups, instant coffee and tea in the common room. A mini fridge was shared among all 20 travellers. Towels were available for an extra cost (100yen for two). |Currently (May/2024), there are two new construction sites by the hostel that start working by 8am and the construction noise is very loud. One site is right beside the hostel and one is located the opposite side from the hostel. |Hope future guests read this information and make an...

Read moreThis guesthouse is very accessible - about 5min walk to Tawaramachi station of Ginza line and about 10min walk to Asakusa station; about 10min walk to Senso-ji area (kaminarimon, nakamise) and to Sumida Park where you have a nice view of Tokyo Skytree and Asahi Beer Hall. It's nice to walk to the park either early in the morning or at night. There are a lot of stores and restaurants around the area and both the police box/station and FamilyMart are just at the corner, which is a few steps away from the guesthouse. You can also easily go to Shinjuku by Tsukuba express Asakusa station which is just 3mins away with one transfer in Akihabara. ||||The room was nothing fancy, but it has enough room for one person and has windows looking out the street which was nice during the summer. There was airconditioning which I didn't use a lot since it was tsuyu (rainy season) and it was cool enough during the evening. The bed was comfortable enough and I like that the pillow wasn't flat and thin. It was filled with beans/beads. The blanket wasn't the thick comforter, maybe because it was summer, which was fine.||||There were 2 toilets on the 2nd floor, 1 for boys and 1 for girls and a long sink. The toilet was nice and kinda old school type. I love anything old school. There were 2 bathrooms at the ground floor and I think another toilet. The stairs at the back side creaks but the rooms are far enough so it wasn't a problem.||||Satoshi-san was very accommodating. You can easily talk to him and ask him about anything you need for your trip. And I love how even when he's in his office, he always greets you when you get back. :) Needless to say, I had a nice 3 nights stay in...
