The hotel is nicely located, but the rooms are a little small. I think that it is the standard in Tokyo, so not really disappointed. There’s not much storage place at all, so if you plan to bring a large luggage, you will surely have issues finding storage space for it. The bathroom is equally small and will definitively be tight if you are 2 adults plus a kid. However, everything is clean and comfortable. There’s a tiny fridge and safe in the room. The area is super quiet, so you won’t have issues with noise.
There’s not always someone at the reception, so you might have to rely to Google to get info. There’s a room behind the lobby with 3 washing machines to use. We wanted to give it a shot, but didn’t have the chance. It washes and dries at the same time for about 800¥.
We got the breakfast included package. The breakfast is actually at the Denny’s restaurant about 3 blocks away from the hotel. You get a coupon which you exchange for a set breakfast menu at the restaurant. The service is descent, but the breakfast choice are quite limited. See pictures for breakfast options.
I would however suggest that you opt for the Seiyu grocery store at the Asakusa ROX mall which is just around the corner. They in the basement and are open 24 hours a day and have a nice selection of food for dirt cheap prices. There’s no microwave in the room, but there’s one in the lobby if you plan on getting something that needs to be heated up.
Otherwise, there’s a couple of 7-Eleven, Lawson and Family Mart not far either.
The closest Subway station is Tawaramachi, which is about 5-10 mins walk depending on how fast you walk. The Senso-Ji temple is about 15-20...
Read moreHotel was fine- good location, very clean, small- you get what you pay for. Or so we thought.
The 1 star review is due to the very dishonest way the front desk was. Upon arrival, the front desk informed us we had actually booked for 8 people instead of 4. He said we could cancel half of it + get that money back but l pay an occupancy fee for the remainder of our booking . He charged us an additional $80 (check the fine print- none of those other fees that they would charge would not add up to this amount ) which we agreed to with the reassurance we’d be refunded from Expedia for canceling the other half of the rooms on our reservation.
Well we get home and the refund did not take place way past what we were told it would be. We contacted Expedia who tried to reach out to the property who is not budging and not admitting to what they told us nor honoring it.
Why would we have canceled half the reservation and paid more on top of it if we were going to get less for the same amount we already paid? It does not make any sense.
They refuse to refund us the canceled portion which they assured us they would AND they won’t cancel the additional occupancy fee they charged on top of the reservation. You can’t have the argument both ways.
Very unethical. They essentially took the full amount we initially paid while only giving us half AND charging us an additional fee on top of it .
I understand occupancy fees are extra but we wouldn’t have had it if we kept our original booking.
Very disappointed and the worst stay of our Japan adventures. Did not have this kind of issue with other hotels in...
Read moreHotel Ann in Asakusa is a very well situated hotel that connects to Tokyo via multiple train lines. The Ginza line is only a few minutes walk from the hotel and big Hotspots like ROX and Sensoji Temple are all within walking distance.
Tourists be wary, the beds are Japanese style, so they are very firm! The bathroom is also quite small but it is a personal private bathroom in your room. The toilet seat is also quite small. The toilet features a built in bidet in the seat which can do front or rear washing and oscillation. Bidet water is warm. Toilet is otherwise unheated.
The room featured a TV, humidifier and ceiling AC unit. Windows are unopenable from my observations but the window also features a blind that blocks ALL light, so if you sleep early or want to nap, you can do so in complete darkness.
I did not hear any people around me so I will assume the rooms are mostly soundproof. Sometimes movement in the hall can be heard though but it never was overpowering.
The lobby and halls are very modern! There are vending machines inside but the ones right outside the hotel are slightly cheaper. There is also a washer/dryer combo machine on the first floor and a back of building smoking area with an ashtray as well. Microwaves(600W) are available on the first floor for use!
24/hr entry is possible with your room key. You need a room key to operate the elevator at all times and the front door at night. Hotel staff are very kind and accommodating! They do their best to understand...
