The only reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because of the two lovely ladies (Loewe and CDG reps) I spoke to on the 4th floor on May 3, 2025 around 6pm; they were the only reason I continued to shop there. However the second floor staff needs to be reviewed. It was the second floor staff (same day and around the same time) that almost opened the door on me while I was changing and trying on clothes. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable and rushed in my life when trying on clothes. He kept wanting to open the door to see me in the clothes and was rushing me. At first it was in a polite tone then after only about 2 mins of me being in the dressing room (I tried on two tops; one was rather difficult to get into so it took some time), did he switch his tone to a more “your getting on my nerves, please hurry the hell up” type tone and it just threw/turned me off. The tone and being rushed is one thing, but the need to constantly ask if he could open the door to check on me really bothered me and was incredibly unnecessary and almost made me leave the...
Read moreI have this running theory that the various Comme Des Garcons stores have an internal hierarchy and mandate.
The higher up on the totem pole the store is, the more 'powerful' the people working there are. What this means is that in boutique locations such as CDG Homme/ Junya Watanabe in Hankyu Men's, you get low-tier CDG employees—henchmen really—yet approachable. However, in a place like CDG Aoyama, you get the final bosses of CDG, and they are every bit as combative and stern as Rei Kawakubo originally intended. This, of course, is expected.
In a place like DSM Ginza, however, you get both the accessibility and the experience of a 'serious' CDG aficionado. The store is a little bit crowded, but the service and staff are really top-tier here. An older gentleman helped with a Homme Deux shirt and allowed my girlfriend and I to banter over construction details on a Homme Plus jacket, which I think he found somewhat amusing. In any case he was wonderful, as was the rest of the staff and the space....
Read moreas always, a very edgy, forward-thinking, artistic experience visiting a dover street market.
More like an art gallery instead of a commercial space, spread out through 6 floors. At the top, you can dine at the rose bakery, but it gets busy fast so come early or expect to wait.
Most people passing through are just window shoppers or enthusiastic about fashion but are not looking to buy. Myself included! Haha
With that said, I can understand why some of the staff are cold and unfriendly. They are probably tired of tourists coming in and just browsing, but it still doesn’t excuse poor customer service. Most workers didn’t even let out a single ‘hello.’ They just stood there glaring.
Doesn’t really bother me, but I can see why all these negative reviews are posted.
Nevertheless, a great place to come get inspired if you enjoy CDG, sacai, cavempt, and the like. Definitely many ‘hype beasts’ browsing, and will only get busier as Japan...
