Galerie Dentsdelion was one of the first places I wished to visit when I was planning my trip to Japan. On my second day in Tokyo, I immediately made my way to the galerie, where I found out that they were closed. After emailing them, I promptly received one back, and I made sure to visit them at the end of the month. And I just did! This galerie has something for everyone, and it was truly a delight looking through their exquisite ceramics, netsuke, prints and lacquerware. After one month of traveling Japan and visiting countless antique shops, I left this galerie astounded by their kindness and willingness to show me endless amounts of woodblock prints or newly arrived Netsuke. In my opinion, the best galleries often have owners who seem to just love to talk about their job and what they sell. Thus, the “shopping experience” turns into an experience where one not only walks away more knowledgeable about things you’d never thought about before, but you also walk away inspired and excited. This galerie fits that description perfectly. This spot is truly one of the gems of Tokyo. If you wish to bring back something beautiful after a trip to Japan, please give them a visit!
Many thanks for the beautiful little vase and the print...
Read moreBy far my favorite shop in Tokyo. I had been wandering from antique shop to antique shop in Tokyo for days and on the last day I came here. I should have come here first. For collectors and antique lovers looking for a shop with good variety and high quality pieces at reasonable prices I cannot recommend this shop enough. The owners were extremely nice and they went out of their way to be helpful. I finally was able to find the perfect souvenir of my trip and they wrapped it up ready for its trip. I am an avid collector and will visit this shop on all my future trips to Japan.
The shop has a wide range of japanese antiques including all the regular catagories with a strong selection of Buddhist statues and porcelain. The owner is very expert. The price is reasonable but reflects the high quality of the objects. This is not a cheap souvenir shop, it is a place to find a treasure to...
Read moreI first visited Dentsdelion in 2013, when we were living in Tokyo. Since then I keep coming back, also after our return to the Netherlands. The shop is a treasure trove, if you are interested in Japanese art and antiques. Besides, the owner, Yvan, is a connoisseur of Imari porcelain. What is also important, he and his wife are a very nice couple. With their help we have built up a small collection of Japanese antiques and artefacts, from tansu (chest) to Imari porcelain, from bronze statues to lacquerware, like suzuribako (writing box) or inro (small medicine box), from kakejiku (hanging scroll) to gurasu-e (reverse glass painting), and from koro (incense burner) to kago (bamboo basket). But they have even more! A visit to the website offers each time new artefacts. Warmly...
