I’m sharing this review very late but I feel obliged to write something as my experience was rather poor and I want to make sure others are forewarned.
I came in for a simple cut and blow dry. The staff were polite, the salon was clean and it was very easy to book. I had a bob that had grown a bit too long and needed a good trim. I was also considering have my fringe/bangs cut. Initially it was decided to cut a side fringe, so she parted my hair to the side I normally wear it, cut the bob and then she decided a straight blunt fringe would look better. I wasn’t really fussed and trusted her opinion. Unfortunately she didn’t cut it straight or account for the fact I had a side part. My fringe was noticeably shorter and thicker over my left eyebrow and only when I mentioned it did she notice. So she started cutting more. I ended up with quite a thick fringe. Then for the blow dry she said she was going to do it wavy. For me the best part of a salon visit is leaving with beautifully blow dried hair, all ready to go out. What I didn’t know was that wavy meant putting a product in my hair that hardened it and using the diffuser to dry it. Not only did it take a long time but when she finished I looked like I had just stepped out of the shower.. but my hair was dry and hard. By this stage I had been in there close to 2.5 hrs (for a simple cut and blow dry) and despite how cold it was outside I was sweating from the hair dryer diffuser. She tried to salvage my fringe when it was dry but I was done and just wanted to get out of there ASAP. Hairdressers are quite intuitive normally but they didn’t realise I was upset and insisted I write a review. I felt like I had stepped into a second rate, cheap Australia salon but with the prices of a good salon. Despite being blonde, I have had much better experiences in the Japanese salons in Tokyo. I’m glad I didn’t ask them to...
Read moreI LOVED my experience at Gold Salon Tokyo Ometesando! I have a terrible hair history and I’m shocked to say I feel like I’m leaving with healthy hair. From 3 years of box dying my hair and bleach frying it end of 2022, I am a hairdressers worst nightmare. But, they kindly took me in and never once did I feel pressured to cut off a million inches or spend money on some excessive treatments. I have never been to a more lavish salon. There is a complimentary drink menu, I personally enjoyed chilled Japanese green tea while getting my hair colored. Every single thing here was done with care and consideration, not just about hair health, even speaking to me about the best possible pricing and recommendations for future treatments that would be best in my case. And YOU KNOW I’m gonna love a place that not only considers the thickness my hair stays but the thickness my wallet stays too. I am not trying to be broke out here. Which of course convincing a cheapskate box dye girl like me can be hard to imagine seeing herself regularly going to a salon. But this place has taught me the box is not worth the save and THIS salon is totally worth the spend. And never once did I feel I was going too steep at this salon. They are completely considerate of achievable goals in your situation. Not to mention the hair washing chairs LAY DOWN so you don’t have that usual link in your neck from a salon and you can completely relax and enjoy the luxurious treatment. Best scalp massage ever! Today I got my hair dyed and trimmed with slight layering/shaping, yet I am leaving with the same length but a completely new look. I will be returning to also get extensions, and then I am sure I will be leaving yet another review then. I will be back! They have ensured a client in me for as long as I stay here in Japan. Thank...
Read moreGold Salon saved my hair and it was worth every penny!!! After having a horrible experience at another salon - a cool blonde balayage that left me with a head of orange streaks AND an empty wallet - a friend recommended that I try Gold. I was reluctant to trust any salons at that moment, but after seeing a lot of before/after correction photos on their Instagram account, I decided to give them a try.
My stylist had amazing attention to detail. After analyzing the state of my naturally fine dark hair and asking me for a detailed color & treatment history, she listened to what I wanted and came up with a realistic solution for my type of hair. She applied my color in five steps, making sure that all sections of my hair would have the same processing time and reach the same desired effect. In my 15 years of being blonde and getting my hair done at salons all around the world, no one had ever put so much work into my hair! Honestly, the effect was so much better than anything I had hoped for!
All of the stylists at Gold speak perfect English and seem to be trained both in Japan and abroad, so you can get the Japanese salon experience without the VERY costly misunderstandings. They have a line-up of Japanese products as well vegan and organic toners for people sensitive to chemicals, which was also a big plus in my book.
Thank you Annette and Gold Salon for saving my hair! I'll never go to another salon again, even if I have to fly in to Tokyo...
