I was very surprised that I needed to pay an extra 2000 yen for using Google translator! 😲My aunt went with me for a haircut so we paid an extra 4000yen total for using our translator app. This is discriminated against me trying to better communicate with the hair designer. 🤷
I even had my japanese friend write down my request on a paper so when I met the hair designer they knew what I was thinking. When I showed the designer the paper he understood and he asked me 2 more simple questions. I use the translator app from my phone to answer his questions. The total consultation is about 5 minutes (less than 10 mins) which I considered normal in japan. Then they washed my hair. After they washed my hair, the hair designer showed me a menu, on the menu it said in Japanese that using a translator app I need to pay an extra 2000 yen. I was very confused. If you want to charge me from using a translation app then you should tell me up front! Not after I used it!!! My hair was wet what can I do?!! Also I could have used my lousy japanese plus body language to communicate with the hair designer then it will take each other even longer on the consultation. I think if you charge me extra because of the counselling taking too long or if you need to hire a translator then I would think that's reasonable.
This was not my first time getting a haircut in Japan. But I have never needed to pay extra because I don't speak Japanese in any other hair salons in Japan. I feel Minx is taking advantage of me. If the customer couldn't talk, are you going to charge them by writing or typing on a cell phone??!!! Also, please do let the foreign customers know when they first check in at the front desk that you will charge them by using their own cell phone translator app. Not after they used it. Besides this everything...
Read moreI visited last week the salon for a haircut, but I was charged 20% more—apparently just because I am not a local. Unfortunately, this extra charge was not clearly explained to me. If it were a fee for special assistance or an additional service, I would understand. However, there was no extra service that justified this price difference.
I would have appreciated more transparency so that I could understand why foreigners are charged more. If there are language barriers, a clear policy or open communication would be fairer than an unexplained surcharge.
Experiences like this leave a negative impression and are not the right way to welcome international customers. I hope the salon reconsiders its pricing policy and provides clearer...
Read moreGreat service, nice modern interior design, busy but still relaxing atmosphere and most importantly the hair designer's ability to recreate your desired haircut/hairstyle was superb.
Got my hair cut by Ms. Hanako Yagi. I originally had hair down to my waist and asked for a -30cm shorter haircut. I was happy they had a hair donation process as I was just wondering how I could go about donating my hair.
The end result was everything I wanted and more. She had asked me if I regularly style my hair (blowdry/styling gel/hair iron etc.) to which I answered "hardly ever" and she cut my hair in a way that required very little maintenance.
Overall, stunned with happiness from MINX...
