My husband and I, stayed at this magnificent beautiful gem for 10 days. Look no further in Valetta! We had initially booked a" 5stars Hotel" outside Valetta, only to to discover upon our arrival and in horror that, it was completely opposite of what was advertised! We couldn't sleep because of the awful setting and noise. We left in the morning only to luckely end up, in the most attractive, magical and professional Hotel. Of course - part of The Leading Hotel of the World! WE initially thought that staying in a modern part of Malta, would mean a modern hotel! Wrong thinking! We like 5 starts with modern vibes but also historical touch and a true classic feeling and style. We definitely unapologetically like to be treated as special guests! This Hotel it's not only that. It goes beyond your expectations with beautiful gardens, outdoor swimming pool beautifully hidden away from human eyes in the most stunning setting ,surrounded by history and beautiful nature. A dream! The continued 5 stars treatment, shine trough from breakfast to dinner with Guests events planned regularly to wonderful scents, beautiful food and a magnificent spa & gym for people like Me, who like staying fit during the holiday and look the part! lol The people are amazing from reception to restaurant staff. The instant they knew our unfortunate story, they offered us the best room at top floor with a stunning magnificent view on Valetta and the sea! WOW! They use my favourite brand " Acqua di Parma" as shower & shampoo products, which I found a touch above and beyond 5 stars! That was phenomenal. Being in the Aviation industry and my husband a engineer we have travelled the world and always chose the top best Hotel! We are truly demanding on silent spaces when on holidays to recover, rest and feel refreshed. This Hotel will give you all of that! My N1 Malta choice for the foreseeable future. WE looked every inch to find a match but nothing matches The Phoenicia. I wonder why Queen Elizabeth was repeatedly found to stay here with the Royal Family continue this tradition. Is the people that makes this Hotel unique! It is an experience and not solely the beauty it represents and the History. I loved it ! Will definitely repeat! Thank you all for our wonderful...

We stayed for 4 nights and got to fully try out all the hotel has to offer.
When we arrived, we were greeted by Craig Hum. Who was extremely helpful in grabbing our bags, guided us to reception, and a casual a chat to us whilst we waited to check in. He immediately remembered our names and for the the rest of our stay, always greeted us by name, and was so friendly and helpful.
Room We stayed in a deluxe harbour view room which was nice. We were given a lovely bottle of fizz along with a small treat for our stay which was a lovely touch! It’s always nice to see a personalised message from the hotel, especially one which has as many guests as this!
Breakfast We chose to have the buffet most days. Food on offer was well cooked, the egg station is brilliant and the hot drinks on offer are well made, as well as fresh juices
Dinner We ate at the restaurant twice, and both times it was fantastic, for context, we also ate at some of the 1* places on the island (Under Grain) and we both felt we had a nicer and more enjoyable meal at the Phoenicia! Food was very well cooked, the staff are amazing, and the Wine list is very good. Highly recommend the Salt Baked Sea Bass and the Tiramisu!
Service Throughout this entire stay I wondered if i booked the right hotel, I was torn between The Phoenicia or Iniala Harbour House. And having had the treatment from the Staff at the Phoenicia, I can confidently say we stayed at the right place!
It is always good to receive nice service, but when the staff in the hotel actually remember your name, your preferences, your booking without looking at their system etc. it shows that the team here give it that extra bit of attention to detail and care.
Whilst I am sure all the staff here are brilliant, the following staff members we met with/encountered really were exceptional: Door: Craig Restaurant (dinner): Alejandro, Saaswat Breakfast: Rex Restaurant Front of house: There were 2 members of female staff who both greeted us and made bookings etc. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see their name badges (angles and it was dark) but they were both fantastic.
We can not wait to come back and...
Read moreOfficially 5 stars and leading hotels of the world, but in our opinion more of a 4.5 star building with hit-and-miss 3 star service.
Sharona checked us in and was wonderful. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and personable. The room was clean and the dinner restaurant food and service was quite good.
Issues: We asked the doormen were the city gate was and he told us he did not know. Interestingly enough the city gate is less than 100 meters from the hotel entrance.
The AC in our room seemed not to work so we inquired with Nikola at the reception to see if the AC could be looked at by maintenance. Nikola responded rudely telling us that the AC was just what it was and that nothing could be done to make the rooms any cooler. Even though the thermostats in our rooms went to 19 degrees C the rooms were warm, more like 24 degrees.
On another occasion when we asked Sharona for a late checkout and let her know that we did not mind paying for the late checkout, when Nikola interrupted our conversation and spoke over Sharona rudely.
Breakfast service was strange. On the first morning we had to order coffee 3 times and then they failed to bring sugar and milk even after asking for it various times. The buffet had no juices or water. The bread selection was very poor and only salted butter was available.
The men’s lobby restroom was mostly not maintained.
As we were a larger party, we reserved a table in the lobby bar to have an aperitive before dinner. When we arrived the wait staff informed us that the table they had reserved for us was no longer available as there were 2 gentlemen that sat down at the reserved table. After about 15 minutes standing arond waiting for the staff to help us we finally had to ask to be seated at another table, even though most of the tables were vacant. There were only 3 cocktails on the bar beverage menu which we found odd and the wait staff was reluctant to offer any traditional cocktails that one can order in most bars.
Needless to say, we would not return nor recommend this hotel. At a 5 star rating and the price point of the rooms, we...
