El Gaucho Chaweng — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

We recently visited El Gaucho in Koh Samui and were extremely pleased with our experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by friendly and professional staff who made us feel welcome. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, with a perfect blend of modern and rustic decor that created a cozy yet elegant atmosphere.

The menu offered a great selection of dishes, but we were especially excited about the steaks, which are the restaurant’s specialty. The meat was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Each dish was beautifully presented, and the portion sizes were generous. We came in for dinner with big expectations because we often passed their store and it looked so promising. The maitre d’ was friendly and escorted us to our table before showing off the selection for tonight’s meat. We ordered the Rib Eye (medium) and Fillet (medium rare). Unfortunately, they mixed up our order! My rib eye was cooked to medium rare, while my partner’s fillet was cooked to medium. We were disappointed at that point. However, it got worse because one of the waitresses spilled tomato sauce and it got to my foot and our clothes! We don’t mind, honestly, but the way she handled the situation overall was a bit disappointing.

The food itself was super good. The mushroom sauce and pepper sauce were delicious. We also ordered the handmade cold cheesecake and it was super good!

Has a steak craving on an island and El Gaucho's nailed it for me. Ironically though, they didn't have Argentinian steak due to bad steak supply available for them to ship in at the moment but they've compensated with a good array of usda primes, auzzie Black Angus and Japanese wagyu. The filet was nicely charred on the outside, tender and juicy nice amount of gamey taste. But what made it satisfying to dine here was the service and attention to detail. The outlet manager comes to greet me personally and ran through the steak varieties with me. Along with showing me how the steaks cut and size looked like. The service staff were attentive and served the steak on a hot plate, a side of salad and a really nice thick and creamy mushroom sauce. Ended off the meal with a vodka caramel shot digestive.
