This restaurant is an absolute disgrace, the pinnacle of terrible customer service if I can make this less than zero I would. As a seasoned business traveler who's dined at numerous establishments around Istanbul, I thought it was time to share this delightful experience with my mother. Little did I know it would turn out to be an epic disaster.
Picture this: a near-deserted restaurant at 1:00 pm, right after a pleasant visit to the Grand Bazaar. That alone should've raised a massive red flag. But no, I was foolishly optimistic about the raving reviews and decided to give it a shot. We ordered a Greek salad, or so they claimed. Instead of feta cheese, we got something else I let that slide. We also ordered mackerel and grilled sea bass, both utterly forgettable. I've had better seafood.
Now, the worst part, brace yourself. Every course was followed by dessert. We opted for kunefe and Turkish coffee. When we inquired about the kunefe, the manager's response should have sent us running for the hills. He sarcastically remarked, "What else would kunefe be made with? Cheese, obviously with a stern face and cold tone" A shining example of his outstanding attitude.
While they hastily prepared the Turkish coffee, the kunefe was still in the oven. No complaints yet. We enjoyed our coffee, and then the kunefe arrived. My poor mother, who knows her Middle Eastern cuisine, immediately noticed something off about the kunefe. The cheese had a peculiar odor, and that's when the madness began. The manager lost it. He started screaming at us, two women, one of whom was a senior citizen. Unbelievable.
We didn't ask for a refund, not that we would have gotten one. Instead, I attempted to have a civilized conversation with this rude, obnoxious man. I kept my composure, but he was insufferable, continuously belittling us. "You know better than me," he said, "I've never heard this before." When we suggested he taste it, he arrogantly responded, "Why should I?" This guy lacks basic manners and any semblance of customer service. We are of Middle Eastern descent we are well aware of what kunefe tastes like.
As if that wasn't enough, they evidently strong-arm customers into writing positive reviews to inflate their ratings. The deceit is real, check in the question and answer part there have been bad reviews there too, or even just just go to the sort by reviews and filter the lowest so many bad reviews.
In sum, this restaurant was a nightmare for my mother. The manager or owner, whatever he is, has no respect for women, and differing opinions. He's utterly unfit for the hospitality business and should be nowhere near a restaurant. Avoid this place...
Read moreWhere to start, initially the man who was standing at the edge of the street who lured us is was friendly and persuaded us to come eat in this place. We sat down we were handed menu's. We order our food but no the drinks. We looked at the menu and found out that drinks were so over priced that it was ridiculous. So we asked the man if he could do a discount for us on the drinks at a reasonable price. He tried to reason at the end he said okay. So for the four cans of coke he said 500 tl. So he bought the drinks but not coke he bought diet Pepsi so we sent it back. Annoyed with us the second waiter bought coke after saying there was none. Anyways the fish dishes were ready. So we begsm to eat not even one bite in it was completely raw so we asked the wait to cook it properly as we made it clear when we ordered for it to be well done. So he took them back after 10 minutes he came back and to our surprise even the potatoes were rock hard. The chicken pasta was extremely salty. And the we were surrounded by three waiters who were watching us eat like Mafia bosses. Anyways after everything we asked three times for the bill while another customer was arguing with him. We got it and we were shocked to discover he didn't even reduce the price of the drinks like he had said. Anyways. We put the money in the pay wallet and waited he was still arguing so we called one of the servers and gave it to him to give it to him when was done arguing however we did give the amount he made a deal with us before we ordered food as he was trying to scam us. Also very expensive for bad quality food and...
Read moreBeautiful decor but had a disappointing experience.
Host was so rude. (Gentleman who seems to be owner.) Even upon entering. No smile. Nothing. Like he can’t be bothered by you. 🙄
Young food runner was sweet and kind. He helped us as much as he could. Kept apologizing.
Ordered the chicken Shish. Says breast- came dark meat and fatty. And undercooked. Was glistening when I cut into it.
I told him it’s dark meat - it’s literally brown meat - and he tells me it’s breast. Grabbed it and says “I cancel.” Before I could even say anything. 🤷🏽♀️
We also Ordered sea bream grilled - was still raw inside. We wanted to simply ask him to cook it a bit more and he snatched it and said, “I cancel” 🙄
we had to call after him to tell him just to cook a bit more. No one wanted to cancel it.
A young woman brought it back out as owner ignored us. She was super sweet, apologized and then told me that yes, I wasn’t crazy. The Shish chicken WAS dark meat from the thigh. Not breast.
She brought us watermelon and baklava and offered us tea. Super sweet and wanted to make sure we left happy. That’s the only reason I gave 3 stars for service.
We Also ordered penne arrabiata and it was yummy. Calamari was good and garden salad was good. Baklava was very tasty and the young woman made her best effort to change the mood since the owner wasn’t very kind or hospitable.
A huge thank you to her for her graciousness and...
