Shamima Blue hijab Help & services
Dear Team,
I am utterly distressed by the lack of unprofessional staff who dealt with me at this branch. I came with my girlfriend who wanted to buy a pack of cigarettes at the help & services checkout, and was served by a female colleague named SHAMIMA (Hijabi). I understand the law and regulations of providing Identification to buy items listed 18 or above, however, Shamima had asked to see two identifications from myself and my girlfriend who was buying, which was abit confusing and weird as to I wasnât buying anything. She refused to serve us as I had no identification with me even though i wasnât purchasing anything, I then requested to speak to a manager who then came unprofessionally, I believe the name was soyful (Short asian guy) who turned out to be a shift leader. He cane with Shamima both laughing, and made up a lie saying âits a new rule that tesco requires to see 2 identifications if more then one person is with each otherâ I asked to provide evidence of this new policy on the tesco rules and regulations which he couldnât provide, he spoke very unprofessional and was laughing whilst talking to me, he could not get his words right and started stuttering, giving away the fact that I already knew he was making up his own rules. Shamima then started giving verbal abuse saying âcould you leave the store otherwise I will call security for them to kick you out as I already asked to see two Id cardsâ she was shouting whilst saying it, which made me uncomfortable and upset, I then turned around and mentioned âYou shouldnât treat customers in such ways, especially wearing a uniform that your representing a company, there are other customers who are shopping, you are causing a scene, imagine how they would feel seeing you treat me in such an unprofessional mannerâ Security was then called from tesco and canary wharf security who then wasted time by coming as they said this is petty and should be dealt with my tesco staff not security as there is nothing much they can do. Anyway to cut it short, the shift leader asked if i have Identification, I said yes its on my phone he accepted a photo Id from my phone, which shouldnât be allowed as it can be fraudulent or copy. If i was a myster shopper this can lead to disciplinary. I work in retail myself and I know the laws and regulations on company policies. I left the store upset and unsatisfied by the lack of professionalism from the staff there. My girlfriend came intending to buy a pack of cigarettes with having her Id card in hand to provide and leave happy but this resulted in a complex way that it took shift leader and security to attend just to result in the shift leader to serve us afterall. I will never return to this branch again and I will not shop at Tesco again especially with lying colleagues making up their own rules. If I cant spend my money there I will happily spend it elsewhere. How do these people even get employed by such a company who think they are superior. I have reported this to HR and google reviews. Will be shared with friends and family to avoid this branch at all costs. This all happened on 10.11.2024...
Read moreI attended this tesco twice in one day, and unfortunately the management were very unprofessional. The first time was in the afternoon to buy some products from the freezer, but the freezer was recently repaired and there was nothing on display. I ask the manager what I believe to be as he was wearing his own clothes and not tesco uniform. If he could grab me a few things from the back of house. He said no problem we have the stock, but the thing is that he asked another member of staff to grab everything from the back freezer and they both left me standing there empty handed. I carried on shopping for about another 10-15 minutes hoping that they will come back to me with the goods. No one came? I was fulse to leave and disappointed. I came back that same day with my son and his friend to purchase a few things, but it was closed earlier than scheduled by 2-3 minutes. I noticed a member of staff at the back door if she could help me with a refund of a product which I brought earlier that same day as it had gone off/spoiled. Straight away refused me any help as she looked desperate to close the shop. The thing I would of understood that I cannot buy anything, but I was asking for a refund and returned the goods which only takes a couple of minutes. She said I cannot help you as we are closing, fair enough I said, but you still have loads of customers still inside the shop and loads of staff waiting around the tills doing nothing. I ask another member of staff could I speak to the duty manager and he said the lady on the shutter door is the manageress. She could of easily ask her colleague to assist her with the door and she could of done the refund quite easily or replace the spoiled product. By this time it was 9.03pm and I ended up giving the product back and receipt to her and she will refund or another member of staff will do it another day she said. Today's experience has put me off going to your tesco in carnary wharf which I have been going for over ten years. I just find it very unprofessional especially from management level !!! I'm dreading now to explain what has happened to management or a member of staff at this store to reclaim my refund, when...
Read moreI went to this Tesco on a sunday afternoon to buy something a couple of weeks ago on my lunch break. After my purchase on the escalator, one of the staff who thought someone didnât pay them run out and when she saw about four customers on the escalator, she singled me out being the only black person on the escalator and she touched, pulled me by my clothes in her words âcome back with me you didnât payâ. Being a retail manager, I followed her back and she realised and saw I did pay them but their machine was faulty. No apologies whatsoever, I left the store. I spoke to their customer services to have a word with her because she shouldnât have touched me under no circumstances. Ever since, anytime I go there, she will be talking about me to her colleagues which I always pretend I havenât seen her. I went to the store today and after my purchase whilst I was printing my receipt, I turned and she was right behind me with two other colleagues telling them â This woman is not right in the headâ referring to me. So when my receipt printed out, I asked her three times if she remembers me and she denied. As she never wears her uniform, I thought she was a manager so I went back to let her know I heard and saw what she said but she tried to deny with the help of her colleagues. I never new Tesco employs a bunch of liars. Secondly, even if I have a mental problem as she claims, under the Uk discrimination act, she has no right to point fingers at me to her colleagues as a regular Tesco shopper with a club card and I feel sad to see this is how Tesco treats some customers....
