waterloo station is ok but the person who I had to deal with at the ticket counter didn't know the first thing about customer service. He grunted at me when I said hello. I had a return ticket (with a senior railcard reduction) to one particular station but I wanted to change it to go one stop more. he looked at my ticket and told me my ticket type meant that I couldn't use it before 12 midday. So I said, well please tell me what I need to pay to use it now and go one stop further. He told me an amount and gave me the new ticket. But it was to the original station! When I pointed this out (politely) and said I had asked to go one stop more, he told me in an aggressive way that I was being antagonistic (or an equivalent word that I forgot because I was so upset) just because I told him that I had asked for an extension. He hadn't explained to me (as he should have done) that it was a 2 step process, he merely gave me the updated ticket to the original station and if I had not noticed that he hadn't changed the station then I could have been fined on the train. So he was completely negligent in fact. So then he quite aggressively told me I needed to buy the extension separately but only after I asked yet again. So I paid for the extension (the extension and change to ticket types coming to over £15 on top of what I'd already paid for my original ticket). My whole exchange with this man was upsetting. He may hate his job and I'm sure it's tedious selling tickets all day but he is dealing with customers and needs to understand how to treat people with respect and understanding; and not to leave them running the risk of getting a fine because he has not done his job properly and is too...
Read moreThe train station is alright itself, however I am absolutely appalled by one of the staff members.
I do not know his name, but his race is black and he looked about 30-40. Me, my father and my mother were on the 19:02 train to Weymouth after coming back from a day trip in Fulham.
There were no seats available with tables, and with my father being classed as elderly and my mother having fibromyalgia and on crutches, we had to sit in first class as it was the only carriage that had tables available. We ended up having to sit a couple of seats apart as there were only individual seats available, and we were inch close to being forced to sit on the floor.
The worker kicked us off the carriage and forced us to move six carriages down, unless we payed a £25 surplus charge. We were appalled at the decision and my mother and father wers both in pain from all of the walking that they had done during the day, but he did not seem to care.
South Western Railway workers seem to have no respect for the elderly and disabled women. They need to hire staff that care and give a shit about people's disabilities. Absolutely appalled with our journey...
