Segway Tours of Anchorage — Local services in Alaska

My wife wanted to do a Segway tour of South Beach in Florida but she was unable to get onto the tour before she left. For years, I was reminded about this so when I saw the business on Google Street View, I said you have to do it this time. So when the time came for her to walk across the street to ask, there was some hesitation once she say the Segway up close. I decided that another ten years of "missing out on a Segway tour" was not something to look forward to, so I finally dragged her across the road and agreed to take the tour. After the safety video and the one on one tuition which included trying to not fall off when we went over a curb (something we had to master) the group of four customers and the guide took off as a slow pace. After about ten minutes we got a speed upgrade which oddly gave us some more confidence. We were taught to control the Segway by our feet on the platform. I found that a bit odd and once I figured out that I could control it by the handlebars, I really enjoyed it. My wife gradually gained her confidence and then started to enjoy the tour. Towards the end of the tour we had a lengthy decline and a relatively long trip up the hill from the train station back to the Segway home base. By then, my wife was full of confidence and that was a first as she has never fully gained her confidence on her bicycle. My husband and I took the Downtown Anchorage Adventure Tour. Grace greeted us at the door and spent some time getting to know us and explaining the tour as well as the short films that were available to see in the theater room. We watched the Aurora Borialis film along with the Earthquake and safety film. We actually learned a lot from each of the films which made our Segway experience even better. Lee was our Tour guide and she was awesome!!! She made sure that we understood how to operate the Segway, get on and off safely, make turns, stop and go up and down hills safely. She was patient and encouraging. She shared lots of great history with us on the City of Anchorage made sure to make brief stops so that we could really appreciate the history and views around us. It was one of absolute best tours that we took over the course of our two week vacation. We loved it so much that we would take the same tour again just to hear and see everything again. we can’t say enough wonderful things about Lee and her tour guide expertise! If you book a tour we would recommend you ask for Lee although I’m sure all the tour guides are great! This is a must do activity! So fun!! Fun bear helmets are optional! Our family decided spur of the moment to do this Segeay tour versus the trolley. We were looking for a more active way of seeing Anchorage but not walking cause I didn't want to hear my boys ages 11 and 14 complaining. This was 1st time and we enjoyed it. Not only did we see the sites and hear some history, but we got to zip and zoom around the area. Our tour started with a tutorial, and Buzz was patient particularly with me. Then we headed to a river were we saw the salmon making a run up the river and then saw different areas of town with stops in between.
