OnFriday, March 24,2023, I visited the Tax Commissioner office located at 11575 Maxwell Rd. Alpharetta, GA to obtain a handicapped placard. I completed the form and followed all the steps to obtain the placard. My doctor completed the portion she was supposed to complete. However, she did not realize the notary in the office had expired. So, she did the next step which was to use a prescription pad to write the information as instructed at the bottom of page 2 on the application; she signed, wrote her ID# and dated. Well, in true fashion when dealing with mean and hateful individuals that thinks everyone is dishonest. I was told that they could not accept my application because it was not notarized. Even though, at the bottom of page 2 on the application, the prescription pad is taken in Lieu of an affidavit. The person that was helping me was named Felicia and at the direction of Mrs. Phyl that this was not accepted. They were rude; when I asked for names she was reluctant to give me her name and Mrs Phyl. She went as far as to say, 'why do I need her name'. When I was trying to show her that the form stated what I gave her. Felicia said to me 'do you want the temp placard or not. Which was offered to me, after I would not accept no for an answer. Then once I was leaving the young lady that was working the lobby, was saying bye and that I had got my temp placard; I was explaining to her what had happened. Felicia came out from the back saying I have already explained this to her. And I hold here, 'no one is talking to you Felicia. Then another worker in the 1st booth said ' one no she didnt call you by your first name. I turned to her and said that was the name she gave me and that she needed to mind her business and that she had nothing to do with the situation. I will be filing a formal complaint. Because I am a tax paying citizen of this county and I should not be treated like a common criminal. Being a Black Women, I knew when I arrived an saw the staff that I would have problems. Which is sad. Because an older white male walked in with me, he skipped the number and walked straight to a booth without permission and was helped with being told he needed to...
Read moreI was determined to give a 1-star, but two competent workers, Rachel and Patty, eventually helped me renew my registration and transfer title from out of state. I am appreciative of them for doing their best to resolve a frustrating situation that I was in. The problem is with Stella Morah. She's apparently the supervisor of Rachel, but the funny thing is, Rachel ought to be the one supervising her. Stella Morah has zero customer service skills, zero empathy for customers, zero listening ability and zero willingness to help. She is a perfect mixture of incompetence and stupidity. She is very stubborn, condescending, and basically on a power trip. I know she's definitely good at one thing: telling customers "no" and "can't do that". She basically came and told me she can't resolve my problem and that there's nothing they can do, and left. Then patty came. 30 minutes later I got everything figured out and left satisfied. Do you get the picture? How are you going to stand right next to a big phrase in the office that says "We Serve Because We Care" and treat customers so badly? I need to pray for her because that negativity and rudeness has to stem from her personal life. Please BEWARE of her. Tall middle-aged black woman wearing glasses. You'll know you're dealing with her the moment she looks at you and opens her mouth. Very curious how she got hired in the...
Read moreReview of Fulton County Tax Commissioner â Poor Communication and Customer Service
I have consistently paid my property taxes and solid waste fees on time every year. However, I was recently blindsided by a notice from the Sheriffâs Office informing me that my property was scheduled for auction due to an unpaid solid waste bill from 2018 a bill I never received any notification about until seven years later in 2025.
By the time I was notified, over $1,000 in penalties and fees had accrued. At no point over the past seven years did I receive a single notice, bill, or warning regarding this alleged outstanding balance. The first and only communication came as a legal threat of losing my property. This is unacceptable.
After speaking with others, Iâve learned that thousands of residents have had similar experiences sudden, excessive fees from years past, no communication, and threats of property auction with little time to respond. This is not just poor customer service it reflects a deeply flawed system with no transparency, accountability, or respect for the taxpayers who fund it.
Fulton County needs to address this systemic failure immediately. Citizens deserve timely and clear communication ânot intimidation and financial ambushes.
