This review is from the perspective of a male shopper who is addicted to shopping fashion and such!
I decided today to finally shop at Kohl's in Baytown, TX. Overall, it was a pleasant first experience here. I gave myself three hours on March 10, 2025.
My intention was to purchase men's jogging athletic shorts. Lucky for me, Kohl's was having a Special Offer 40 to save 40% to apply as for a Kohl's Card Holder, presented by Capital One.
The negatives were several for today. First, their men's clearance clothing racks advertised up to 75% off. However, I didn't find anything close to a decent discount in my size. More in the ranges of 10-25% off as for clearance goes.
Secondly, the pair of men's shoes and sandals by Sonoma were on the front aisle end cap but no prices anywhere, so I had to walk away to find an associate with her store computer.
Being that I wear a size 13, I chose to purchase them for $23.99 with their discount. It is still steep for often being manufactured in China.
The Men's Department offered many more brands than say Target or Walmart, but in jogging shorts, they did not have an affordable alternative to the Tek Gear brand of sports shorts by Kohl's. They also don't disclose the manufacturer on their Kohl's tags.
The price was $14.99 after their 40 percent off. More affordable for retail.
Also, the Bluetooth turntables that were marked down for clearance weren't really marked down to be bought. There are a dime for a dozen for an array of manufacturers online that kill your weak markdowns.
Try better than that first glance over a three hour shopping excursion, Kohl's management, and I will spend more here.
Besides a very weak electronic area, I only found one vinyl lp album by the artist Aliyah. It's not my idea of a fun time shopping with what I enjoy shopping for in department stores.
I decided not to purchase one pair of small jogging shorts, one men's pajamas, and four to five seed and grow kits on clearance and not on clearance. Because Kohl's refuses to honor their 40 off store card special for every store item available to purchase. Mostly, it's with their clearance items. Oh well, it goes back on the shelves for good.
The positive, few but notable things were a super clean mens room appearance and fresh smelling men's room with a diaper changing station for a baby. And plenty of bright light in there. Clean fixtures and urinals! Oh, and their fitting rooms were clean and cozy too!
We'll done. I always check a department store out thoroughly when I apply for their store credit card. And for details to be disclosed in every local guide Maps' reviews. That is what really matters a lot. The little details that should be noted in public, about a business or a especially a restaurant.
A solid three Stars for effort. Do better Kohl's to hold my interest next time. I'll probably end up shopping at Kohl's in Houston a few months from now! For more selection of sports clothes, electronics and cook ware.
Also, the last poorly noticeable attempt at big box retail was a very weak pet selection for feline items! Sad, no respect for the love of a sweet animal!
I would have spent an additional $40 on a couple of feline body suit s or cat clothing this visit. Instead, my bill only turned out to be $56.93. Anything under $60 is a success on my credit end. Three STARS, maybe it's two and a half! We'll have to wait and see if I will update this particular Kohl's anytime soon in...
Read moreBuyer beware. If you use your card only use it at a store local to you and I would stay clear of the Baytown, Tx regardless. They have a sub-standard manager and it shows in their associates. used my card at the Baytown, Tx location 1 week ago. 40 miles from home. went to buy additional gifts on line the following Wednesday and couldn’t because they sent the Sunday authorization through twice. Because Sunday was a large purchase the second authorization took my card over limit….. 1st customer service told me to call the store to have it lifted or it would fall off the following Sunday. Yes the following Sunday…. They put a 7 day authorization on their cards :-/ the store manager told me they couldn’t lift it and they have no number to call escalations department said the store manager lied and that they could but I had to go to that specific store because that is where the issue occurred or I could wait until Sunday, told them that it’s 40 miles away and was told sorry. They did tell me that they noted my account with what I want and I could call back in for a 3rd time to place the order.
It’s now Sunday and I still cannot use my card to get access to the additional discounts with my Kohl’s cash.
I’m not calling them back again, if I have to put more effort into it I’m just going to do it through the BBB and Fair Trade Commission.
Oh and the lady rang me up had to stop midway through because the previous customer had to come back to get their security tags removed. Guess what I had to cut off a pair of pants last night…. A security tag…
It definitely was a comedy of errors however a frustrating one that no one seems to care to...
Read moreThis was a nightmare. I went in to get some new clothes because we had been doing some construction on our house and somehow my clothes got left in storage and mixed up and we couldn't really find much of my stuff. So we went in number one everything was a mess stuff was just everywhere parts of it did look very nice but if you actually paid attention everything was mixed up everything was all over the place it was just a nightmare. Secondly I could not find anything that fit me properly in any way I even asked two different employees to help me find certain things in certain sizes and they brought me stuff that was nothing of what I had asked. Then the prices were completely insane and out of control like $75 for some ugly mom jeans that I could get on Amazon for 15 bucks type of stuff it was bad I know people just love Kohl's and brag about it but personally not my thing not my style the pants were ugly they didn't even really have much winter stuff they had a lot of sundresses and shorts and such so yeah that's just my personal opinion...
