So not sure about the timing but salara moved to Baytown Texas about 6 to 9 months ago. On my 1st visit there, my husband my daughter and I simply loved it. We started going once or twice a week. Then about 2 months ago we noticed that every time we went, the ingredients got less and less, when I questioned about it they said they have to do it this way now, they literally measured the ingredient's. Today took the cake, I went to go and get a salad after not being there in a while, I asked for the Spring mix which he gave me a handful and then I asked for some Spinach. He had the nerves to take some Spring mix out and put about a 1/2 of cup of spinach if that much into the bowl. I said did you really just take lettuce out of the bowl and he said yes ma'am that is what we have to do. I can go to the store and buy a whole head of lettuce or a bag of lettuce for 99 cent or up to $3 or so, and here they are now taking lettuce out as well as measuring all of the ingredients. This makes no sense whatsoever. The salad alone is $9 bucks and the seafood mix is an additional $4. Now I'm not asking to feel my bowl up to the top, but I am asking to get what I am paying for like they did when they 1st opened. Do not lure me in 1 way then change what you do the next. Very dissatisfied customer, and I hate that because the salad is really delicious, Which is why again I tried it today after not have gone in a couple of weeks, instead of them getting better they...
Read moreTypical big city style made to order salads. You can choose wraps, small or larger bowls. You’ll pay the basic amount for the greens and veggies. You pay extra $3-5 for your choice of protein. There is soup you can add and then you have your choice of croutons, baked pita chips, croissants, etc.
There are free refills of juices/teas/carbonated drinks on the wall. It’s all meant to be aesthetically pleasing, but there is something a bit off… the employees don’t seem to know the world of Salad - the correct proportion of salad dressing to salad greens, and typical pairings. I’ve been here 3 times now, and I’m met by confusion or blank stares when I order and then I just end of pointing and there is always too much dressing and I have to watch vigilantly and say stop. Even my native Texan co-worker who loves “smothered” everything said, “yup, they don’t eat salad themselves and there’s way too much dressing.” And yes, it’s a bit pricey. $13-15 for salad.
I’ve lived in SF, Chicago, Philly, NYC, Seoul, and this is nothing special, but for Baytown on Garth, a salad place like this is a hidden gem. There are about 5-6 booths, and about 10 tables and outdoor seating. It’s nice. And there is...
Read moreIf I could give this location zero stars I would. I purchased a salmon salad tottally $16.50 and unfortunately I didn't ask for enough salad dressing. After I left and returned to work I noticed my salad was extremely dry. I ran back across the street and asked for a cup of salad dressing and "JUAN" stated it would be $1 because I didn't ask for it while I was in there. I literally had left for less than 5 minutes and returned. I told him I needed to talk to a manager about the matter and he said there was nobody to talk to. He walked away to help another customer and came back stating how can he help me? I inform him it was ridiculous to charge $1 after stepping out and coming back. He said rudely I will give it to you this time but you have to pay next time. I informed him he had an option to refund me my $16.50 and take the salad back or give me the dressing. He put the dressing in the cup and tossed it on the counter and it spilled. He didn't seal the lid because he was so busy being disrespectful and rude. You never have to worry about me going back to this location. They need to train Juan on customer service and replace him. Very...
