I had an elliptical delivered from Dick's Sporting Goods, and now I have 20+ inches scratches in my floor, 10,000 of damage, they denied the claim, and the delivery driver was ON THE PHONE THE WHOLE TIME!!!
First Red Flag:
The delivery driver was on the phone the entire time, wearing an earpiece, on a personal call with his friend. This could have been avoided by removing the item from the oversized box outside.
The delivery driver crammed an object through my porch door and onto a giant rubber mat without saying a word to me.
Afterward, and with zero communication AGAIN, still on a personal call, not paying attention, THEN tiled the item on an angle and dragged it off MY RUBBER MAT and down the hallway 5 feet, forcing to make room vs. taking it out of the box outside.
Part of the main reason I didn't see the damage right away was due to low lighting, a side light window. After returning from dinner a few hours later, I turned on my hallway light and noticed the damage.
After getting two professional quotes to Mary, she didn't call or write back, and 4-5 weeks had passed.
When she finally replied, I was told it was denied as I took items out of the box, their FALSE CLAIM (as I was an eye witness) was that taking a 6 inch item out of the box, LEAVING THE BOX where it was, and taking Styrofoam out, that somehow I did this to my own property.
This is AND WAS absurd. -- there was ONLY ONE PERSON to drag an 80-lb object off a rubber mat and down the hallway, right where the long scratches were.
After trying to dispute their first denial and asking for more information, Mary didn't call to give me an update or respond after two emails, as this was in September. I explained that there was ONE PERSON who dragged this item down my hallway, taking things out of a box while they were in the same place, which is logically impossible.
I HAD TO WAIT FROM SEPT 2024 TO JAN OF 2025 TO FINALLY GET A LETTER OF DENIAL!
FIRST, I GET A TEXT STATING I DIDN'T SUBMIT INFORMATION, THEN I GET A DENIAL LETTER SAYING SOMETHING ELSE.
I wouldn't use this company under any circumstances. I let them know the damage at a corporate level within 12 hours, and they still, after I spoke to someone else named Luis in January, brought up the fact that I left a "good review," completely cherry-picking or ignoring that I left a bad review and contacted their corporate office and contacted Dicks sporting Goods.
This required an extraordinary amount of energy, which could have been avoided, and it was the most unprofessional customer service I've ever seen!
I had made about 50 attempts at communication and was still sent a text stating, "I didn't submit something", so my claim was denied.
This felt completely shady, like it's a business model. They fired a worker but then took his word for it, as I'm a living witness.
My crime was human, which I corrected four hours later, but somehow, that doesn't matter, as the delivery driver attempted to deny it.
The rep ultimately had zero communication after I asked them to, as they went six weeks after our first email of communication. I was calling the other contact, Mike, and nearly begging him to give me an update, but he refused to answer text and phone calls for months. He was told to stand down. He could have communicated with me basicly, but he didn't, and I was in the dark calling Dicks over and over begging for an update.
I wouldn't use this company if they paid me.
Something is wrong with this company, its process, its management, its lack of professionalism, or its casualness, and then waiting three months with zero communication.
I'll never use a delivery system from a corporate store for the rest of my life.
