This is the first time Iâve written a Google review. I feel compelled to write one, because of the horrible service I received today. Another reviewer from a year ago mentioned âPretty Womanâ, and sadly thatâs exactly how I was treated. As my boyfriend looked at watches with a salesman I killed time on my own looking through the shop. It was my first time in. I grew up visiting a family friendâs fine jewelry store near Bellevue, WA, and always enjoyed looking at jewelry. It wasnât my first rodeo looking at jewelry, and Iâve never had a bad experience before. A couple of weeks ago I met the people at Simmons Jewelry store off Eagle Road and they were lovely. I wasnât expecting to be treated like a pauper who didnât belong. It was so strange. There were no other people in the shop and the saleswoman there never greeted me and just cleaned cases around me. When I asked her a question inquiring about estate jewelry or vintage fine jewelry and if they had a section in their shop she was incredibly rude. She acted like I was crazy for asking the question. She told me to try an antique store. She was condescending in tone. I would have happily accepted a simple no without the attitude.
At our family friendâs store they sold very high end jewelry, but had a special section for heirloom jewelry which they also appraised and sold. I know some other shops in Seattle and Southern California that do that too. I didnât think it was a crazy question to ask. I wasnât interested in antique costume jewelry. I tried to explain this and she said they didnât do appraisals and that there wasnât any fine jewelry store in town that sold vintage or estate fine jewelry. She looked at me and treated me like I didnât belong there and that I was wasting her time. I couldnât wait to get out of there. It was an awful experience. Hopefully the woman was just having a bad day, but Iâm...
Read moreUpdate: We just bought a second watch with Kara Dulhanty at Hal Davis and the service was just as amazing as the first time around. Terrific service and oh-so-nice! I not only WOULD recommend Hal Davis, I frequently do IRL!
Original post: Greatest jeweler on three continents! We were on a quest to buy a Rolex for our second son since we had gifted one to our first son before the worldwide shortage. We visited authorized dealers near us in New York City and Greenwich, CT. My husband tried to find one on a trip home to Caracas, Venezuela. Out of stubborn determination, we went to more than 30 stores on a recent trip to multiple cities in Switzerland and Germany. Not a watch to be found. We were considering other gift options when I had a brilliant idea: Call Hal Davis Jewelers in Boise, Idaho. I grew up in Boise and know Hal Davis Jewelers to have the very best customer service. The incredible Kara Dulhanty listened to my story and agreed that she would keep me in mind if they were lucky enough to receive any watches. Imagine my surprise to get a call from her several months later alerting me to the fact that they were expecting to receive the exact watch we wanted. We now have the watch in hand and will give it to Kid 2 this weekend. We are thrilled (though not at all surprised) that it was my hometown jeweler who came through for us. Hal Davis Jewelers offers the kind of customer service and follow-through that arenât common these days. I would give them more than five stars if that...
Read moreHell, Davis jewelers repaired the crown on my wedding ring. The stone had very nearly fallen out! And they saved it just in time. I also decided to remove the rhodium plating on my ring and see what a matte white gold finish would look like. The diamonds absolutely pop! And I am so glad we made this change. I love my ring. Itâs beautiful and now bulletproof. I also purchased two new diamond bands to complete a stack with my wedding ring. David very patiently and knowledgeably guided me through this experience by allowing me to try on so many bands, see how they worked with my ring, and then custom order them with a matte finish to match. The final step was soldering them all together. I am so incredibly happy. Itâs gorgeous. Five star treatment and craftsmanship. Thank you, David!
Additionally, I came back in with my late motherâs wedding band. It was a very wide gold cigar band with engraving on the inside. It was too wide for me to wear so I asked David to have the jeweler slice it in half so I could have two bands. We finished one in a satin finish and the other in a glossy. They came out beautifully and I was so pleasantly surprised that the jeweler maintained engraving on the inside! I have half on one and half on the other. I didnât think I cared about the engraving, but it was incredibly special that they saved it. I now have two beautiful bands I can wear. I canât say enough about how Hal...
