Update 10/01/2020
I’ve been venturing to Lemon Tree for some time now and I’m always impressed with how delicious they can make a vegan sandwich taste. As Boise’s premier spot for artisan sandwiches, I have high expectations which they continuously exceed, more so with every visit! The sandwiches are definitely one-of-a-kind. You won’t find anything else like it in BOI!
During my most recent trip I enjoyed the wonderful Massaman Curry Banh Mi (roasted yams, spicy house made peanut butter sauce, cucumber, jalapeños, pickled carrot, daikon radish, spicy curry aioli and cilantro, $12.99). I will shamefully admit that I am one of those individuals whose taste buds turn away from most menu items that presents as vegan. Not sure why, it just doesn’t appeal to me! However, I wasn’t in the mood for meat, and I had a gift card so I thought, “Okay, let’s give it a try.”
If you’re a meat lover, this may not be the ‘wich for you. But I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great sandwich. First off, the bread is absolutely amazing. Each bite delivered a satisfying crunch it was like music to my ears. The yams, wow, were delicious! Soft and tender, it paired so well with the crunchy bread. The house made PB sauce provided a sweet kick, and the curry aioli plus jalapeños sent my tastebuds straight to heaven. What an awesome freaking combo.
I’m so excited to try some of their other sandwiches. I think I have my eyes on the Toasted Fluffernutter next. If anyone’s given that a try I’d love to know what you thought. Can’t seem to find many reviews on it here.

Lemon Tree has become my new favorite lunch place downtown. It’s definitely one of a kind. At first I’ll admit I was a little weary - I thought, cherry preserves, in a sandwich with ham? What kind of witchcraft is this? Well I can tell you it’s dang good. I can’t describe how impressed I was with it.
My fiancé and I shared the Turkey Boursin sandwich: Turkey, house-made boursin cheese and cherry preserves, roasted garlic, greens, olive oil. Sided with tomato juice and bread. First off it was huge, so glad I ended up sharing it. Half of one was enough to fill me up for most of the day. The flavor was so good, everything was perfect. The cherry preserves were my fav part. I can’t wait to try every single thing here.
As for the atmosphere of the restaurant it’s super nice and calm and spacey. The upstairs is a pretty cool spot to eat and people watch from above. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the service was quick and neat. I’ll be back...

I ordered lunch for seven people, clients and employees. A huge part of our business is keeping everyone engaged during the day. That includes getting everyone lunch so that we can all keep working. The online system worked smoothly so I was hopeful the rest would go well. Lunch arrived on time and it went downhill from there. Everyone had their lunch except me, the one who actually ordered it. I called and talked to somebody, I could tell they were slammed by all the noise in the background. I told them that they missed a lunch and asked if they could send it over. They said they could remake my lunch and I could come pick it up. That was a no go for me, that's why I had lunch delivered in the first place. They apologized and offered to credit back my card for the missing lunch. I said okay, everyone offered to share their lunch as the portions were quite large. I wasn’t super happy but I understood what happened so I enjoyed the sandwich that was shared with me.
A couple of days pass and no credit. I send off an email to the generic address for the restaurant reminding them to credit my card. A couple more days pass, no credit. So, I fire off a second email letting them know I wasn’t too cool with them not following up or crediting my card. A few minutes later I get a reply from the owner, Jason. He apologized and explained what was going on and said he would call me at 2:00pm to talk in person. Sure enough at 2:00pm I get a phone call from Jason. We talk for 5 minutes or so and he apologizes, tells me what happened, apologized some more and offered to refund for half the total bill that was $120.
We all know that restaurants run on extremely thin margins. He lost money for sure on our order. But, he earned a few loyal customers that day. The food was incredible, the service was above and beyond. That is how you do business right. Good job and good luck with the new location in...
Read moreI was blown away by the amount of choices! Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free bread, and carnivores alike can get a phenomenal meal at Lemon Tree. While I can’t attest to the quality of the gluten free bread, or the meat options…. I’ll tell you my experience regarding the vegan options. My partner got the Yam and Cheese (with beets!), and absolutely loved it. While my Mom got the vegan cheesesteak (with mushrooms), and said it somewhat reminded her of a hot muffuletta. I got the vegan Rueben (with “pastramied” yams, apple slaw, and sauerkraut) my mouth is watering just thinking about it…. My Dad got the soup with gluten free bread (which he didn’t much care for, but I don’t know if he’s ever tried any before). Usually when my partner and I go out to eat our options are immediately limited to a few things on the menu. But not at Lemon Tree!! I started feeling bad for those behind me in line as I perused the menu. I can’t remember a time in the last 4 years we’ve had so many choices!! If you’re vegan or vegetarian, or if you just enjoy a good sandwich try Lemon Tree. I need to express my heartfelt appreciation for the bread. I believe for too long our society has peddled the mindset of inferior bread. Being a lover of (Acme/C-Op) French baguettes, and quality bread made with real ingredients, I find the subtle nuance of a properly cooked piece of bread almost a lost art. The lightly crispy outside, thicker chewy under crust, and soft inside of the bread they use blew me away. Plenty of sandwiches have been ruined by the application of inferior bread, but they’ve elevated their sandwiches to another level by using the right ingredients. Absolutely phenomenal meal, and I’m grateful we finally tried Lemon Tree. I live in Nampa, but I will gladly make the trip downtown for a takeout order. Kudos for doing it right when so many places phone it in these days. You’ve earned my persnickety adoration Lemon...
