We were absolutely shocked by our experience at Bacon in Boise, Idaho. We were waiting in line to order (the process is, you wait to place your order, then they seat you at a table and bring your food). Our baby, Brooklyn, needed to be fed, and after waiting about 15-20 minutes in line, I decided to go ahead and feed her so that when our food arrived, I could eat, and she could sit in a highchair and enjoy some of our breakfast as well.
I asked a worker who was wiping down tables if I could sit at one to feed my baby. She kindly said yes, and I pointed to a table in the corner, asking if that one would be okay. She confirmed it was fine, so I sat down and started to get ready to feed her. At the same time, my husband asked another worker, and they also said it was okay.
However, as soon as I sat down, a different worker approached and asked if I was feeding my baby. I said yes, and she responded by saying, "Oh, I just assumed you were breastfeeding." I said, "Yes, I am," and she suggested that I could sit there or go outside the restaurant to sit in some more comfortable chairs. I politely declined and said I was fine where I was. She walked away, and I started feeding baby B.
Less than 30 seconds later, she returned and told me with a way less friendly tone than the first time that I wasn't allowed to sit at the table and needed to either go back in line or leave the restaurant to feed my baby elsewhere. I explained that my husband was in line waiting to order, but she insisted that it didn’t matter and that the tables were first come, first serve and I needed to get up. I said he’s in the front of the line. She told me It didn’t matter I had to leave, and I told her okay. She thanked me for understanding and I told her I didn’t and we would be leaving.
As I was walking toward my husband, she tried apologizing as she was following me to my husband, I was furious at this point. I told him to hurry up and finish his drink because we were leaving. He asked why, and I explained that she had told me I couldn’t sit to feed our baby at a table and either had to go outside or wait until our food was ordered. She said sorry and he said no you aren’t or you wouldn’t have made it a big deal that she sat down to fed our baby.
There were at least seven open tables at this point, and the one I chose was in corner of the restaurant.
We left out the front door, but stayed on the property so he could finish his drink. They have an outdoor seating in the front of the restaurant. The entire time, the worker who had told me to leave kept staring at us while talking to another worker. Once my husband finished his drink, we left—though I should note that the drink was already paid before they brought the drink to him while he was in line.
It was an incredibly frustrating and upsetting experience. All of our friends said we should have contacted the manager and talked to them. But we ended up going to a restaurant called Moon and have the sweetest server. Who specifically asked if he could get our baby something. He came out with a plate full of cut up bananas strawberries and...
Read moreFirst time diners, new to Boise area. Very excited to try this place. First, the bacon is amazing. Can't complain at all. Fantastic flavor, thick cut and I really enjoyed the spicy one.
Location is very convienient downtown. Lots of seating, even for large parties of 6+. There is no table service, so it's an order at the counter place; we didn't like that at all, especially since the counter is hidden in the back of the restaurant and you can't even see it, you'd have to follow signs to find it.
It's a serve your own coffee place as well, kinda chincy like a hotel lobby or something. The eggs were cooked great and my husband loved the Brioche french toast. They also have a great espresso menu and make it at the bar. yes, they do serve alcohol and have a full bar for lunch/dinner diners. That's as an added bonus and it's likley we will return for lunch soon.
One very disappointing (but awesome) thing is that they CAN sub most of their items for gluten free items (ex. Toast, french toast, etc) BUT they do NOT even put that option on their menu. I found out second hand. Why? I have no idea. They are losing a lot of business because of this, especially people that view the menu online before deciding to go there. This is a huge mistake for them.
In addition, there are many pictures online of various items they don't actually have on their menu and we're simply a one time special. Example, don't get excited about pancakes - because they don't have them. Also, waffles, that's just an occasional thing, they don't have that option everyday. So that was a little misleading and kind of a bummer considering we brought our kids - that don't have any interest in specialty bacon for breakfast. We were banking in pancakes or something for them.
I didn't like how were expected to tip either, when you have to order at a counter, get your own coffee and water, and...wait for it...get your own silver ware. Just seemed weird to tip them for basically bussing the table (an obvious "service" for any establishment - not the customer).
Lastly, prices. Yikes! While I do respect bacon is expensive, and expected to pay more for that (and rightfully so - cause it's amazing) they also charge high prices for beverages, toasts, eggs, etc.
Overall, we would return. Probably not as a full family of 5, but my husband and I at least. There's other options for great breakfast in the city for a much better experience at a...

If you haven’t visited Bacon Boise yet, you’re truly missing out. This place is a bacon lover’s dream, and I’m not just talking about regular bacon – their in-house creations are next level.
First, let’s talk about the Beignets – they are to die for! Light, fluffy, and warm, dusted with white powdered sugar, and paired with raspberry jelly. I just devoured five pieces without blinking an eye. Seriously, they’re THAT good. 😋
Now, onto the real star of the show: Bacon Shots. This sampler lets you try all of their signature, made-in-house bacon varieties: • Berryhill Bacon: Their traditional bacon, with a slight sweetness that makes it unique and absolutely mouthwatering. • Spicy Hot Bacon: If you love a bit of heat, this is your bacon. The peppery kick lingers on your tongue in the best way possible. • Maple Rosemary Bacon: Sweet, savory, and fragrant, with the perfect balance of maple syrup and rosemary. If you’re a rosemary fan, this one’s for you. • Candied Bacon: Perfectly sweet and addictive. This is definitely a favorite for kids (or anyone with a sweet tooth!). • Pantry Bacon: The rotating special – which has coffee on the bacon. While not my personal favorite, it’s still pretty tasty and definitely worth trying.
The atmosphere at Bacon Boise is cozy and welcoming, with large wooden tables for families and intimate high-tops for two. The menu offers a great variety, from starters to hearty breakfast and brunch options. Plus, their patio is perfect for soaking up the sun on a warm day. Service is excellent and I enjoyed the conversation while enjoying the bar seats.
If you’re craving bacon – or just a good meal in a fun and friendly setting – Bacon Boise is the place to be! 🥓.
You can also purchase your favorite bacon for about $18 a bag to...
