Absolutely terrible, just book a trip with Boston Harbor Cruises and save yourself the trouble of having to deal with this company. Booked a Sunset Cruise a few days in advance; showed up at the scheduled time for the cruise, and had to talk to three different people to learn that it was cancelled due to weather. The cancellation itself isn't the problem, the problem is the fact that I was never notified that the trip was called off (no phone call, text, email, etc.), and then that the staff in the office lied to my face.
After wasting a considerable amount of time and money getting down to the harbor, I was told that there was no possible way they could refund my tickets, but that if I showed up the next morning at 11:30 I would be guaranteed spots on the noon cruise. Unfortunately, there was no noon cruise the next day. After altering my plans for the day, and spending yet more time and money to get down to the harbor, I was informed by the office staff that they were sorry they had screwed up, but that there was no upcoming cruise. They then offered "to make things really simple" for me and refund my tickets. The staff's insistence from the prior day that a refund would be "impossible" was apparently a bald-faced lie.
After an uncomfortable couple of minutes I received my refund (truly, don't let them tell you they don't have the authority to give you one, they're fully capable of doing so on the spot) and left. No apology. No offer to make things right past a refund. It was clear that the staff was uncomfortable and simply wanted me gone. At this point I was so fed up with dealing with the incompetence that I left. At the end of the day all I got out of this experience was a lot of wasted time and money (parking in downtown Boston isn't cheap), and a newfound sense of awe that a business run by such apathetic, indifferent people could possibly stay afloat...
Read moreThe day of trip, it was cold, rainy, and windy. Had my family with me including 2 you children. I was thinking my family would not have fun on the boat ride with the conditions and knowing their policies. Spoke with an employee at their booth. She agreed with me stating we wouldn't enjoy it with this weather condition. She'll also put a not in the system as to why we weren't going and to call the office for a refund. The employee stating that, ultimately made my decision to not go for the boat ride thinking I would get a refund.
Reached out the the office the following day and the lady wouldn't refund the almost $300 I paid, but if I would like to reschedule for another time. Their dates didn't work with my schedule and only running for 2 more weeks. She said email the main office. Emailed them that same day.
Received a response from a Cloudy the next day. His overall response: "We are a small business. It was your decision to not go and we're keeping your $300. You can reschedule for one of our other dates." Again, their available dates didn't work out with my schedule. Emailed back and no response.
They don't honor what their employee's tell customers. Please, for other customers sake, train your employees to not tell people they will get a refund if you don't back them up. My family and I felt like they took advantage of us. Didn't even offer to let me book for next year when they open back up. Have fun spending my $300 you got for free. Horrible customer service. Would not recommend and action is being taken.

Read moreThe crew was professional, friendly enough, and experienced, and it was fun that we got to help raise the mast. Over all a nice enough little trip around the harbor. The boat was very cool. We did the “A Sail Through Time" cruise as we like to learn about history, but we were disappointed by the narrator, Sally. She said she was a volunteer with some organization called Boston by Foot. While I mean no disrespect as she was clearly trying her best, she was not a particularly interesting or experienced public speaker. She told us a few stories she had gathered from her own research, and they were frequently unrelated to our surroundings (About people who were from Boston, but the stories taking place in California or China, instead of Boston Harbor). She pointed out Castle Island when we passed it and briefly mentioned that Edgar Allen Poe had been inspired to write 'The Cask of Amontillado" based on an event that had taken place on Castle Island...but then didn't tell us any more about it! There were long gaps between the stories where she stopped talking, and she often lost track of her own thoughts despite having note cards.
If I had known that the tour was not going to be narrated by a professional, I probably would have passed on it. I would gladly pay more for a more experienced, knowledgeable tour guide with more relevant stories to share. If you're interested in a leisurely cruise around the harbor and couldn't care less about history, take one of the other tours. "A Sail Through Time' is better off...
