I had the worst experience with Peter Pan Bus. People who is considering Peterpan or Greyhound bus service please read this.
I bought 3 tickets yesterday for me and my family to come to Boston from New York at 10 pm. I bought these tickets on the way to New York from Buffalo and could not print them as I was on the road. We came to port authority bus terminal at 9:50 pm. The kiosks that print tickets did not allow me to print any tickets. It kept saying that it could not recognize my credit card, although peterpan charged my credit card and sent me the electronic tickets. I showed the email and e-tickets to the representative on gate 84, but they did not let us board on the bus as we do not have any printed tickets. They told me to go to upstairs on the ticketing desk. But the peterpan guys on ticketing told me I should have printed it out from home and neither listen to my situation nor gave me the printed tickets!! Moreover they suggested me to go outside terminal and print tickets from any stores. Although it was already past 10 pm, we went outside and tried to copy the tickets thought we would get the next bus at 10:30 pm. But we could not find a place for printing. We came back to peterpan ticketing and request them again to get the printed tickets. The lady on the desk told me that she can reschedules my tickets but it would be at 4 am in the morning and I had to pay $20 for each tickets!!
Now I have the following questions:
I paid the money. I was not late. Their kiosk did not print tickets. Their customer service was reluctant to help. But I had to suffer just not printing the tickets! What was my fault?
Their ticket printing kiosk did not work, was that my fault?
Their ticket confirmation email as well as the emailed tickets has all the information. Why is that not sufficient to get on a bus? It is 2014 and where many bus companies around the world just use e-tickets, Peter pan ridiculously did not let some passenger on board just because they do not have any paper tickets?
Peter pan's customer service keep telling me that I had to printed the tickets from home. Moreover they told me to print it from outside. Not everyone comes from home. If they value their customers they should give them a printed tickets when they ask for it. Their computer servers has all the information. If they can reschedule a ticket, they can print it as well if needed. My experience last night just indicate that Peter pan's customer service deliberately did this with us so that we could not get on the bus on time and rescheduled it with extra money. Why a paid ticket holder has to have all these troubles?
So if any reader considering peter pan or greyhound (they are same), you may have the similar troubles. So be careful and use other bus service...
Read moreIt's definitely a great asset to Boston. I like the variety of transportation available all in one spot. Peter pans, greyhounds, or you can go on the subway, or take the city bus. The commuter rail and Amtrack trains are here as well. There's even a section for taxis when you come out of south station. Or if you'd like to you can rent a bike for the day which is also an option at south station. You also have plenty of options inside the station in terms of foods. Dunkin donuts, McDonald's, master wok, auntie Annie's, papa ginos (I believe it's papa ginos. It's a pizza shop for sure though!), they also have a few other varieties. They also have a pub. And a sit in Mexican restaurant. CVS is also in the station, and a shop where they sell Boston shirts, life even hats, gloves, sweaters, memorabilia. They also have bathrooms. The seating is limited though, which is understandable with all of the transportation amd waiting people need to do for their rides to arrive. Outside of south station, if you walk a bit further down the streets, are a variety of stores. Macys, tj max, dsw, bed bath and beyond, and a variety of other stores! There's also Wendy's, nail salons, Claire's I believe, forever 21 or Charlotte rouse. There's also a 7 eleven. There is a subway which is the red line, you can catch a different track besides red line too. You'll never be bored here at south station....
Read moreI love South Station. You can catch the Red Line, Silver Line or Commuter Rail to travel locally around the Greater Boston area, or for longer distance travel you can catch the silver line to Logan International Airport, Amtrak and other trains and a whole slew of bus lines. There's a whole separate bus terminal which makes it nice because they all go to one place and there are usually kiosks with staff on site that work for all the bus lines. The bus terminal has a little food court, and the main part of South Station has a really nice, large open area with a few restaurants for meals and drinks; coffee shops and a food court with fast food and quick bites. The restroom at South Station is nice and big so chances are you won't have to wait in line for the bathroom (which is nice if you're in a rush to catch a train or bus, but really want to use the bathroom first!). There's also a huge CVS in South Station with a quick shopping area on the 1st floor (for snacks, drinks, travels toiletries, etc) & all the usual stuff on the 2nd floor, including a huge makeup section, a greeting card section, toiletries, groceries, and more. I love when my travel takes me through South Station, and it's a good place if you have to wait around for someone coming in or your bus or train to leave. There also plenty of great things right in the immediate area outside of...
