Impressive Cocktails & Elevated Comfort Food
Down a dark alley and through an unmarked black door—finding Offsuit felt like unlocking a secret level. (Technically, you can sneak in through Troquet on South’s back door, but where’s the fun in that?) The mystery set the bar high.
Given its popularity, we expected the bar to be packed on a Saturday night, but the atmosphere was surprisingly calm and intimate. Granted, we lucked out with a cozy couch seating tucked away from the main crowd, where groups gathered around a standing table in the center.
Offsuit’s cocktail menu had a good balance between timeless classics and inventive creations. From the classics, the Espresso Martini was undeniably the best I ever had—impeccably balanced, smooth, and never overly sweet. A rich espresso punch without cloying syrupiness. Another surprise was the Vibe Check, where a subtle curry note added a pleasantly unexpected depth, lingering just enough to intrigue without overpowering the drink.
The most interesting things were on the “Ace of Spades” menu—high-end cocktails (a rarity in Boston) and some seriously luxe bites. We skipped the drinks but went all in on the food. The white truffle “Uncrustable” was our favorite with its rich truffle and gruyere combo. The Foie Gras/Baller Burger? Solid, but not the best I’ve had. And the Foie Gras Crunch Bar was basically a top-tier chocolate bar with a great crunch (almost zero scent of foie gras).
Another surprise was the Boozy Cookies & Milk—a treat I didn’t expect to find at a cocktail bar. Fresh out of the oven, the cookies filled the air with a nice aroma and their pillowy softness made for a perfect sweet send-off.
I haven’t explored many speakeasies in Boston, but so far, Offsuit takes the crown. Definitely coming back to dive deeper into their cocktail game.

Read moreI really had high expectations of this place since it’s very hard to get a table here. My husband and I went here 2 weeks ago on a Saturday night. We didn’t have a RSVP but decided to wait. The hostess took down my cell phone number and told us to wait in the other bar area, Troquet on South, and we would receive a text message in about 25 mins or so when a table would be ready. While we were waiting, we ordered a drink at Troquet on South. Excellent drink. Excellent service. After waiting for 45 minutes, we decided to go back to Offsuit and see how much longer the wait would be since we were told 25 mins. The hostess said that she had sent me a text message earlier, which I clearly didn’t receive. She then brought us to a high top bar counter, shared with others, and said someone would be with us shortly. The server came over and chatted with us and took our drink order. My husband notices and asked the bartender where were our drinks since the couple that came in after us, placed their drink order at the same time we did. The bartender told my husband that, although he didn’t receive our order, he would make them right away. THE SERVER FORGOT TO SUBMIT OUR DRINK ORDER TO THE BARTENDER!!!! We then were given our drinks by the same server who took our order with no apology or recognition that he forgotten. We drank our drinks and they were awful!!!!!! I understand the concept of speakeasies and I am very open minded about trying different drinks but we should have looked at the drink menu ahead of time. The cocktail menu creations listed are horrendous. We ordered a old fashion that had bourbon infused with mushroom. Wasn’t pleasant in the slightest. In hindsight, we should have stayed at the other establishment. Sadly, we paid $36 for two drinks at Offsuit, and after taking one sip of them, left vowing never to return again. Huge...
Read moreBehind a nondescript black door on an alley-way in the Leather District (you've gotta call the number next to the door), is probably one of the best bars in Boston. An intimate space, with dim lighting and armchairs you just sink into, the decor is subtle and loud at the same time (there's nothing subtle about a stag head on a wall, but you barely notice it somehow). The acoustics are such that even when people look like they're being loud in the seats across from you, you can't hear them, but the person you're across from can hear you sorta clearly. The drinks are great. I had the Seaward, and I don't think I've had such a beautifully layered and complex drink in a while. Blended and meshed so perfectly i can't identify the specific ingredients, and the aftertaste from the leaf in it was invigorating, but not overwhelming. My friend had an Espresso Martini, and they said they've never had a better one, and I agree. I'm not a fan of those, but I'd definitely drink that. Now, this is a speakeasy, so good drinks are expected. Their food however, also bears mentioning. I had the burger, which was a great burger overall. Unfortunately, it was compared to the Pow Pow shrimp my friend had, and the burger fares poorly there. The absolute explosion of flavor that was the shrimp was unexpected but oh so good. The name is very apt. Service was quick and friendly, not overly chatty but also not completely standoffish. It should be noted that the check comes with cigarette candy in a cigarette case, which I felt was a nice touch. Overall, loved it, and definitely...
