You may want to pass on the "jerk twerk" in this show. There are many performers in this show that work very hard to entertain the crowd. And they do a very commendable job as they bring a fast paced, high energy production to the stage. I don't know how they keep the pace they do. There are three primary male singers who all have their lane in which they give solid performances including some impressive vocal range. There are two primary female vocalists. One does an excellent job keeping the energy up and gives a solid vocal performance throughout the show. The other female vocalist has impressive range and a somewhat unique sound, but seems like she is trying too hard to distinguish herself from the others with her vocals and distracts from the overall performance. There is a male guitarist who is really good. He is highlighted in several songs and brings a huge boost to the performance. His occasional vocals are solid too. But there is one glaring con among the pros in this show. One particular male dancer is way too over the top. Treating the stage as his own personal exhibition venue. One of his particular "highlights" which is actually a vulgar lowlight is when he places himself at the bottom of the steps leading up to the stage, bends over with his back end facing the audience and begins to twerk during one of the songs. What do 70s/80s rock and twerking have in common? His placement during the "jerk twerk" is in an area that is not easily seen by most of the audience, for good reason I'm sure. It was just nasty. Sadly, this performer seems to possess some significant talent and athleticism, but chooses to forget he is part of an overall production that can either benefit from or be significantly harmed by his performance. It's unfair to the other performers that this one dancer mires an otherwise enjoyable show throughout the entire performance. The production team/managers of this show may want to consider the Branson audience with their inclusion of this particular performer's antics. It hurts the overall performance and brings the production down...
Read moreMy wife, and I, went to this show recently at the suggestion of someone in Branson. It was alright, and they do play a pretty good range of music. You'll hear Journey, Bon Jovi, Led Zeppelin and many other bands from a musically better era. BUT, it can make you cringe at times, as others have said. Yes, singers can have off nights. So your result could be better, or worse, than ours. A live band would dramatically enhance this show, though. The only real instrument you'll hear is one guitar player. He was alright, so-so. Like my wife said, this is more of what you'd see from a glee club in high school. Elvis, Story of a King, and MJ the Illusion, both feature live music. I'd recommend those if that's what you're after. I was on the fence as to whether this should be a 2, or 3, star review. I went with 3 because these people put 100% into their efforts. I would have given this show an easy 5 star rating had it been live music, like Raiding the Rock Vault, out in Vegas, or at least a half-way attempt to do something similar. Wrapping this up, the glee club type of stuff just isn't our thing. My wife's brother has been a singer in different bands since the late 80's, and I've been drumming for numerous bands since 1986. So, it's (live music) all her, and I,...
Read moreExcellent choice of songs! I loved that they invited us to sing along. These top hit songs wouldâve been hard to not at least lip sync. Any time there was harmony, the performance was outstanding. Some solos were also awesome, but a few artistic interpretations were a little out there. Wish I could find a current cast list plus faces to match so that I could review each performer. Everyone is talented, but there were some outstanding performancesâsingers and dancers. The guitarist was out of this world!!! Eddie VanHalen wouldâve been proud. I only wish he played the entire Queenâs Bohemian Rhapsody rock opera. Consider adding a drummer for certain songs. The tenor hit some ultimate high notes perfectly during Aerosmith and Queen songs. The dancers were amazing to watch. Overall choreography was well done like youâd see on Broadway. I wish the theater would add to their ticket communication and post online about movie-type concessions available, a gift shop, time for intermission, and a souvenir photo opp to better prepare the audience. Thanks for a fun night! I would give 4 1/2...
