Dickens Gift Shoppe — Local services in Branson

I went in and had a sample of their fudge. It was fair. However, they have a flavor that I don't see often (black walnut). I decided to see if my wife wanted to choose some, also.

She wasn't interested, so I went back to buy the black walnut. The elderly man there asked what I'd like to try and I told him I had tried the black walnut earlier.

I told him I was going to buy some of it and asked if I could also try the dark chocolate. He got a sour look on his face and got me a sample of it. Then he said "I guess you can't read, can you?" Among the jumble of notes taped to the counter, one said "one sample per customer", and he pointed to it.

I told him if he doesn't want me as a customer, I would leave. In a sarcastic voice, he said loudly, "SEE YUH!!!"

I went and got my wife and told her we wouldn't be spending any money there. An employee asked what was wrong and I told her. She said, "he shouldn't have said that, but he's tired - we had a lot of people through today."

This gift shop has a little bit of everything, but by far, the treasure is their fudge. The fudge is absolutely heavenly. It is not overly rich or sweet and it is super soft. They have so many flavors and offer free samples as well. You can mix and match flavors (a little of this and a little of this) to make the best gift or something for the road or plane trip home. It holds up well over time as well. I forgot about mine until about a month later and found it sitting in my pantry. I dared to try it expecting it to be hard or crumbling, but was excited to find it still soft and just as tasty as it was the day I bought it. I highly recommend a visit to this place to shop around and enjoy some of their delectable treats, but do not leave without getting some of their fudge. You won't be disappointed. What a great little gift shop with amazing people working there! 😍 We tried a few other shops because my daughter wanted so badly to buy something. Fortunately, we found this gem. 💎

My son is a fiend for candy and kept trying to buy taffy, but one of the staff was kind enough to save me a battle and told us you can get a free taffy sample. 🍬 This saved me, and I am grateful for the kindness. 🙏
