We stayed at the baymont thousand hills from Dec 21st-26th. My 3 teenage kids and I. My husband unexpectedly passed away and christmas just doesn't feel the same anymore.
When we arrived, checkin was fast and efficient. We drove around the building and parked near our room #114. As we walked up to the door I was getting the key to the door and my son twisted the handle and the door just opened... um that's weird. I walked in and checked things out, seemed fine. We unload all the luggage. Rest for a bit and then change clothes and get ready for our show that evening,we leave the room and the door won't lock! We try over and over, nothing so not knowing what to do I make the kids pack everything back up and load it in the car. We go to the show, come back to the motel and stop by the front desk to get another room. I want a different room but The man tells me there is nothing wrong with the lock and walks to the room with me, that is still unlocked and shows me I need to slam the door really, really, hard. I'm feeling kinda dumb so we unload everything again and go to bed. The next morning we leave for the day, slam the door with all our might and it locks... we go enjoy our full day and come back around dinner time... walk to the door, yup unlocked! I'm frustrated,I call the office. I speak to a lady and explain the situation. I tell her this is not ok and I want a new room. She says they don't have any but she will write a note to the housekeepers and make sure they slam the door. She apologizes and keeps saying this is a safe area your stuff will be fine. Not the point! I have medication, money, etc in the room and I felt like it was a violation of privacy. We go to bed... another full day, Get back exhausted around 1030pm. As we are pulling up my kids joke... what if our door is open again mom...I say it won't be! Surprise it is unlocked! I am now angry. I walk to the front desk... door is closed with a note to call... I call and ask for them to come speak to me. They don't but the guy Listens as I tell him I don't feel safe. I am a single woman with children and this is the 3rd time I've came back to an unlocked room. He finally offers a new room but it's after 11pm by his time and the thought of packing everything up right now is not happening. I tell him I'll sleep there tonight as the lock works from the inside and he tells me he will personally go double check or door after housekeeping tomorrow. I tell him I'll switch rooms in the morning. (I was never offered a different room in the morning)
In the morning we leave for the day, we come back around 3 for a break and our room is locked! Woohoo! But as we open the door we realize housekeeping has only done about 1/4 of the things they normal do. Only one bed made...towels left by the TV, garbage was removed but floor needed swept etc. I'm like did he come and tell housekeeping to leave so he could lock the door? Weird! From that point on I just kept or do not disturb sign on the door and made or own beds etc. On Christmas day, we were staying in the room and relaxing with the do not disturb sign up. Housekeeping knocked..i answered and told her we didn't need housekeeping and i just needed garbage bags to bag our trash. She gave me the bags and left... she then came back 2 more times that day...it was strange. We took out our trash and hung up and just reused the towels. It was a pain but security felt better than someone else making your bed.
When we checked out there was no apology, no discount, or even a recognition that there was a problem.
There were good things... loved that there was no carpet, the fridge was way bigger than most hotel fridge which was nice. Microwave was a plus. Free Breakfast was good.
But the cons... door issues, housekeeping issues, no storage at all, and the fact that every morning at breakfast we were asked if we had our phones so they could help us write a review of the motel was too much.
as a side note, I learned a valuable lesson that I need to be more confident and not take no for an answer even if it means...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews, but my experience at this hotel was so terrible that I feel obligated to warn others before they waste their money and vacation time like I did.
From the moment I arrived, it was clear that customer service is not a priority at this establishment. Check-in took over 40 minutes even though there was no line—just two indifferent employees moving at a snail’s pace, barely acknowledging the guests. When I finally reached the front desk, the receptionist was rude, barely made eye contact, and acted like I was interrupting her day. No welcome, no smile, no basic courtesy.
Once I got to the room, things went from bad to worse. The room was filthy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly—there was hair in the bathroom sink, stains on the bedding, and a disgusting smell of mold coming from the air conditioning unit. I called housekeeping to request a room change or at least a cleaning, and they never showed up. I called again—still nothing. After the third attempt, they finally sent someone who just sprayed some air freshener and left. I ended up cleaning parts of the room myself because I was too tired to argue further.
The Wi-Fi didn’t work for the majority of my stay, despite being advertised as “fast and reliable.” The front desk kept blaming “weather issues” even though the weather was clear the whole time. The pool area was overcrowded and dirty, with used towels and trash everywhere. The water looked murky, and I didn’t even want to dip a toe in. There was supposed to be a bar by the pool, but it was closed with no explanation.
One morning I tried to order room service—another disaster. After calling three times and being put on hold indefinitely, they finally took my order and delivered the wrong food over an hour later. When I asked them to correct it, they simply said, “We’re very busy,” and hung up. The food was cold, bland, and overpriced.
Noise was another huge issue. I could hear every footstep from the room above me, loud music blasting in the hallways until after midnight, and people shouting outside my window at all hours. I barely got any sleep, and of course, no one at the front desk did anything when I reported the noise multiple times.
When it was finally time to check out, I just wanted to leave and forget the whole experience. But they tried to overcharge me with hidden fees that were never mentioned at booking. It took 20 minutes of arguing and showing them screenshots from their own website before they reluctantly corrected the bill.
To sum it all up: this hotel is poorly managed, understaffed, dirty, and completely lacking in customer care. The staff doesn’t care, the amenities are falling apart, and everything feels like a scam. I would never stay here again and strongly urge anyone reading this to look elsewhere. There are plenty of other places that will actually treat you with respect and provide the basic services...
Read moreWe were looking forward to our stay here based on the long list of positive reviews. We visit Branson frequently to see family in the area. We’ve stayed at a variety of motels/hotels in the area throughout the years. I don’t have expectations of hotels being updated or newly built, but I do expect rooms to be clean and secure. Unfortunately, neither of these expectations were met, and this was one of the worst stays we’ve had.
Check in was easy and staff friendly but, shortly after settling into our room, someone was opening our door (without knocking). Once they realized we were in the room, the front desk called to tell us it was the general manager entering the room because they didn’t have us registered in their system (they have us keys). Simply knocking or calling the room would have solved this without issue.
In addition, the bathroom floors were filthy. I understand grout can become discolored with time and use but this was visibly dirty.
The breakfast did look really good and cooked to order but unfortunately it was so busy we never tried it.
The hotel is newly remodeled and overall staff was very nice, but I wouldn’t recommend or rebook based on our experience. Normally, I wouldn’t even leave this review because the dirty floors don’t seem to be the norm based on the other reviews, but someone entering our room really...
